02. Security and health
This guide does not address health and safety requirements, all national and local health
and safety regulations must be complied with.

03. Mixing panels on site

PanelsEQUITONEThey are a natural cementitious material, there are small color tolerances
between them.

When more than one pallet of material is needed to carry out the work, it is necessary that the
panels from different pallets be mixed; mixing will guarantee heterogeneity.

the lifting fork at its widest setting.

08. Pallets, condition, protection and stacking

Make sure the pallets are in good
condition and are larger than the panels
to avoid damage to the panels.

All panels must be stored on pallets,

indoors or under cover and in dry
conditions, protected from the elements
and other trades.

Store pallets on a flat, level floor and no Max5 pallets high

more than 5 pallets high.

09. Storage of pallets on site

It's recommendedshorten the times in which the panel is on site.It is best not to
deliver any panel to a job site that cannot be installed immediately or downloaded to
a protected storage area.

Page 011
Fast guideof installation

EQUITONE is an architectural, finishing material, poor or improper

storage can cause damage to the surface of the panels.

If it is necessary to store the pallets on site in

a timely manner, protect them from rain and
condensation by covering the pallet with a
waterproof opaque cover.Clear plastic is not
recommended. This cover must be provided
with aearringso that moisture can evacuate
quickly and must allow proper ventilation of
the panels.

If moisture penetrates the panels, it

will be necessary to store them
immediately, temporarily, to allow
moisture evacuation and proper
drying. Prolonged time of the panel
in a wet state can cause permanent
staining.

10. Types of gloves for handling

Clean gloves, of a type that guarantees a good grip, should be used.

eleven. Panel manipulation

Always lift the panels with two people, one on each end, never
slide them over each otheras scratches may occur on the
surface.

Always tilt the panel toward its rear edge to

avoid damaging the visible front edge.

If panels are placedEQUITONECorner

Preparation of facade insulation

13. Choice, fixation and position of
insulation
The insulation used must be suitable for a ventilated façade; it must not be replaced without
optional approval.

It is important that the insulation is well fixed to avoid the risk of the chamber becoming
blocked in the event of detachment.

14. Ventilation Cavity size

Ensure that the ventilated chamber, as well as the minimum area of ventilation
openings per ml in inlets and outlets, have the minimum size specified in the design
documents (30 mm and 1500 mm2/ml length counted horizontally for highly
ventilated vertical air chambers according to CTE1).

Allow for a tolerance in the chamber to compensate for construction

irregularities.

In addition to the openings that allow ventilation of the chamber at the top and
bottom of the façade, it is also important that air can enter and exit below and
over window openings, doors...

The recommended joint between panels ranges between 8 and 12 mm.

It is recommended to protect the joints between panels of more than 12 mm from the entry
of birds, animals and dirt.

B. Straight cutting procedure

The cut must be made inside or under the cover.

The workbench must be stable and covered with a clean, soft material to avoid
scratches and marks on the panels.

When portable saws are used, the panels

Approx. 5mm

EQUITONEThey are usually placed face

down and the cut is from the back. The
blade should be adjusted to protrude View of the panel
approximately 5 mm below the panel.

It is advisable to sand all the edges of

the panelsafter cutting them to improve
the appearance. Use 80 grit sandpaper
on a block of wood approx. 400 x
100mm in size.

It is recommended to cut an angular groove

from a wooden block and wrap it with
sandpaper. This will speed up the process as
the top edge and bottom will be sanded at the
same time.

Immediately afterwards wipe off all the

dust with a clean soft microfiber cloth.

Always use the same cloth for dust

removal and not for other tasks.

Never cut multiple panels together at the same time. Only one panel should be
cut at a time.

C. Curved cutting procedure

For curved cuts you can use a bladeBosch T141HM.Deactivating the pendulum function
of the machine.

When curved cuts are made the panelsEQUITONEThey are usually placedface

D. Procedure for cutting internal edges in a panel

The meeting of 2 cuts should be rounded, it should not be a sharp angle, this will reduce
the risk of cracking in the corners of the drilling.

It is recommended to first drill a ø8 mm

either8mm hole in the internal corners and then
make the cut.

Follow the subsequent sanding and cleaning

procedures described in section “A.”

E. Edge treatment procedure for panels

EQUITONE [natura] and [natura pro]

On panelsEQUITONE [nature]andEQUITONE [natura pro]Moisture absorption at the

edges of the panel may become evident in the form of efflorescence or a darker shade.

This effect will disappear over time, when carbonation of the fiber cement
pores occurs naturally. The time period depends on weather conditions.

To help prevent this phenomenon from occurring, the edges ofEQUITONE [nature]and

16. panel drilling

A. UNI-Rivet exposed fixation

For installation using UNI-Rivet riveted visible fixing, the panels must be drilled with the
fiber cement drill bit.EQUITONEø11mm on the visible side of the panel.

This illustration shows the differences

between a standard masonry drill bit and the
drill bit.EQUITONE. The masonry drill bit
produces a very fine dust that is difficult to
clean if it settles on the surface.

DRILL DRILL
MASONPOSTER EQUITONE

It is recommended not to drill the panel placed on the façade as the dust will
spread over large areas and will be difficult to clean.

It is advisable to place it on a solid workbench, indoors or under cover.

The panel must be kept firmly attached to avoid vibrations. Turn off the hammer
function on the drill as this can cause it to move and slip.

Drill only one panel at a time. Do not drill multiple panels at the same
time, the slightest movement can cause the holes to end up in the
wrong position.

Page 023
Fast guideof installation

Mark the drill positions precisely. Use a white or red pencil to highlight the
position of the hole, especially on gray or dark gray panels. Use small
crosses, this will reduce time and cleanup.

Do not use permanent markers.

Use a metal template for the corner

hole positions, this can help speed up
the process.

Make sure the stencil remains clean and does

not leave marks on the face of the panel.

Consult the Architect's drawings for the position of each UNI-Rivet. The centers for
the rivets are determined based on calculations.

The position of corner drill for vertical substructure should be within the
following range:

The most suitable corner rivets location is V = 80 mm from the horizontal edge and H
= 30 mm from the vertical edges.

Immediately after drilling wipe away all

dust with a clean soft microfiber cloth.

Keep the cloth clean, clean it regularly.

Always use the same cloth for dust
removal and not for other tasks.

B. UNI-Rivet visible fixation – EQUITONE[line]

For the installation of EQUITONE [linea] the use of the EQUITONE Linea drill bit is
mandatory.

This drill bit allows the correct movement of the

rivets due to the expansion and contraction of
the profiles due to temperature.

The drilling procedure and recommendations

are identical to that of the UNI-Rivet Point A
exposed fixation.

Page 025

C. NV3 hidden fixation

For the installation of EQUITONE with the NV3 hidden fixing system, the use
of the specific NV3 drill bit is mandatory.

It is advisable to do the drilling on a CNC, it is also possible to do it on site.

When drilling a panel it is advisable to place

it on a solid workbench, face down, on a
surface that will not scratch the visible face,
indoors or under cover.

Maintain a right angle during the

drilling process.

Apply gentle pressure on the drill.

Excessive pressure may damage

the visible surface of the panel.

Once the blind hole has been

drilled, remove debris from the
hole by blowing.

minimum dimensions of 50x50 mm.

T profiles are used in vertical joints

between panels.

Page 028

L profiles are used between T profiles.

If black profiles are specified, it is recommended that they be anodized for their
durability.

In the case of using galvanized steel profiles, Omegas and U profiles will
be used instead of T and L, minimum thickness 1.5mm and minimum
protective coating Z275.

The T and L profiles will be placed securing them to the wall using brackets supported
on thermostops.

The T and L are fixed to the brackets using screws or rivets.

Each T and L profile will have a weight square, which supports all the weight and must be
fixed in all the holes.

The rest of the escutcheons are mobile, they will be fixed in all the slots, in the center of them.

B. Aluminum substructure narrow vertical panels

When using panelsEQUITONEnarrow, less than 600mm, with only two vertical lines of
fixings, it is important that there is a vertical break in the profile so that the panels
are not blocked together. This means that it is necessary to use two L profiles instead
of one T.

The substructure for hidden fixing is composed of primary vertical L aluminum profiles
with minimum dimensions 50x50mm and minimum thickness 2 mm and minimum
aluminum alloy 6060 T6, with a maximum separation of 600 mm, and horizontal
aluminum support profiles with a maximum separation among them 600 mm.

The horizontal profiles cannot protrude from the last vertical profile more
than 75 mm.

The horizontal profile is riveted or screwed to the vertical L-profiles. This should be
done with fixed and sliding points. Each horizontal profile is normally 3 m long.
Leave an expansion space of 20mm - 30mm between adjacent profiles.

working in stages will allow for adequate
tolerance in case the panels require
adjustment/leveling.

Check that the profiles are level and in correct position. It is easier to level vertical
profiles than horizontal ones. Any uneven profiles will cause stresses in the panels
and may be visible once the façade is completed.

Panel Mounting – NV3 Hidden Fixing

Place the pre-drilled panel face down on a clean, smooth work table so that the
surface of the panel is not damaged, and the holes are clean.

The panel must rest on a hard, firm surface and be fully supported.

Place the staples and rivets to the panel.

It is advisable to start with the leveling and fixing staples in the upper corners, remember
that there are only two per panel. Later, the rest of the panel staples will be fixed.

Place the clip over the drill holes and

insert the TUF-S anchors into both
drill holes.

Place the rivet gun on the staple and

keep it perpendicular to the panel
surface.

Before placement there may be a small gap between the head of the TUF-S and the staple.

Do not apply force to the TUF-S before or during riveting as this

could cause damage to the face of the panel.

The clips used in the top corners of the panel have threaded screws that
allow the panel to move up and down to achieve correct alignment. These
staples also support the weight of the panel.

To prevent lateral movement of the panel, a leveling claw is fixed using locking
screws or clips. Make sure this occurs on the same side of the panel, either the
entire right side or all the leveling brackets on the left side.

The rest of the clips do not have any means of adjustment, they are used to resist wind
loads.
