PHYSICS INN ACADEMIA M.A. JAVED CLASS 12 PHYSICS-II
EXAMPLE NUMERICAL PROBLEMS
(i) Find the mass defect and binding energy of the deuteron nucleus. The experimental mass of
deuteron is 3.3435 × 10−27 𝐾𝑔. 2023-GUJ-G-2
(ii) Iodine-131 is an artificial radioactive isotope. It is used for the treatment of the human thyroid
gland. Its half-life is 8 days. In the drug store of the hospital, 20 mg of iodine-131 is present. It was
received from the laboratory 48 days ago. Find the quantity of iodine-131 in the hospital after this
period.
(iii) How much energy is absorbed by a man of mass 80 kg who receives a lethal body equivalent dose
pf 400 rem in the form of low-energy neutrons for which the RBE factor is 10? 2023-BWP-G-1
2023-RWP-G-1
