The
next
step
is
to
compute
the

scores
using
equation
(4.2).
This
is
subtly
different
to
the
use
of
equation
(4.1).
The
main
difference
here
is
the
use
of
equation
(4.3),
the
buy-
and-
hold
weight
in
the

calculation,
which
helps
to
make
up
for
the
limited
bond
holdings
disclosures
of
mutual
funds.
Once
equations
(4.2)
and
(4.3)
have
been
applied
to
compute
the
monthly

scores
for
each
individual
hybrid
fund,
all
that
was
mentioned
previously
regarding
how
the
aggregate
and
yearly

scores
were
computed
applies
here.
The
scores
for
the
entire
sample
period,
as
well
as
for
each
individual
year,
are
provided
in
Table
5.1.
under
the
Bonds
column.
Finally,
and
perhaps
most
importantly,
I
computed
the
overall

scores
using
the
separate

and

scores.
I
aggregated
the
two
scores
in
a
way
that
is
consistent
with
the
separate
calculations
of
the
two
measures.
Each
month,
for
every
individual
hybrid
fund,
the
overall

score
is
computed
as
the
weighted
average
of
the
appropriate
monthly

and

scores.
Here
the
weights
are
the
proportion
of
the
portfolio
invested
in
stocks
and
the
proportion
invested
in
bonds.
Then
as
before,
I
calculate
the
time
series
average

score
for
each
fund
before
computing
the
aggregate

score
as
an
equal
weighted
average.
This
means
that
for
a
given
year
or
for
the
entire
sample,
the
overall

score
is
not
equal
to
the
sum
or
a
weighted
average
of
the
relevant

and

scores.
The
weighted
average
is
always
computed
at
the
monthly
level
first,
as
any
other
calculation
would
give
unfair
weightings
on
the

and

scores.
Note
that
it
is
possible
to
see
an
overall

score
that
is
larger
than
the
sum
of

and

.
Overall

scores
can
also
be
found
in
Table
5.1.,
this
time
under
the
Overall
column.
I
also
computed

scores
(overall,
as
well
as

and

)
separately
for
balanced
funds
and
flexible
portfolio
funds.
These
results
are
displayed
in
Table
5.2.
The
main
takeaways
from
Table
5.1.
and
Table
5.2.
are
that
on
average,
hybrid
funds
did
indeed
exhibit
significant
market
timing
ability
over
the
period
of
2000
to
2014.
This
ability
was
primarily
driven
by
stock
timing
ability
and
further
supported
by
a
smaller
amount
of
bond
timing
ability.
Further,
balanced
funds
are
found
to
be
better
market
timers
than
flexible
portfolio
funds.
Before
I
initiate
an
in-
depth
discussion
of
these
results
I
would
like
to
check
that
they
are
realistic
and
reasonable.
The
next
step
is
to
test
the
robustness
of
these
results.

In
an
attempt
to
properly
tune
the
cavity,
we
turned
the

The
unstable

at
such
a

strained
the

This
eventually
became
too

the

and
it
broke

After
realizing
our
mistake,
we
replaced
the
bridge
and
moved
to
liquid

For
liquid
helium,
the
set

was
slightly
more
involved.
We
used
a

to
vacuum
insulate
the

A
low

on
the

and
attaches
to
the

This
system
holds
the

and
forces
the

it.
We
were
originally
concerned
about
the
seals
which
hold
the
helium
in
and
keep
it
from
escaping
into
the
cavity
but
the
seals
held
and
caused

problems.
The
helium
tank
is
placed
in
front
of
the
spectrometer
and
feeds
into
the
system
via
a
vacuum
insulated
tube.
The
temperature
of
the
sample
is
controlled
by
a
valve
on
the
tube
that
regulates
the
flow
of
helium.
Pressure
in
the
tank
must
be
monitored
and
kept
just
below
3
psi.
This
allows
for
steady

and
testing
temperatures.
We
ran
the
samples
at
50
K
first
as
a

to
ensure
the

Once
at

The

All
samples
were
run
at

in

to

we

Portfolio
Allocation
Analysis
is
that
a
fund
that
demonstrates
stock
timing
ability
will
have
a
higher
percentage
of
the
portfolio
allocated
to
stocks
during
the
months
in
which
stock
returns
are
higher
than
bond
and
cash
returns.
Likewise,
the
fund
should
have
a
lower
portfolio
allocation
to
stocks
during
the
months
in
which
stocks
underperform
bonds
and
cash.
By
estimating
portfolio
allocations
during
up
and
down
stock
markets,
I
can
examine
whether
differences
in
stock
allocations
are
correlated
with
the
stock
timing
ability
estimated
by
the
[Factor
Timing]
model.”
I
will
now
sketch
out
how
I
implement
the
Portfolio
Allocation
Analysis.
Recall
that
in
equation
(4.5)
there
are
four
portfolios
representing
stock
returns
and
four
portfolios
representing
bond
returns.
I
collected
the
total
returns
(not
excess
returns)
of
these
eight
portfolios
as
well
as
the
total
returns
of
cash
(as
used
in
equation
(4.2)),
for
the
duration
of
the
2000-
2014
sample
period.
Now
I
apply
Henriksson
and
Merton’s
dummy
variable
approach
to
create
two
different
data
sets.
For
each
monthly
observation
I
compute
the
maximum
and
the
minimum
total
return
of
the
four
stock
portfolios.
I
also
do
this
for
the
four
bond
portfolios,
combined
with
the
cash
portfolio.
When
the
minimum
total
return
of
the
stock
portfolios
is
greater
than
the
maximum
total
return
of
the
bond
and
cash
portfolios,
I
add
that
observation
to
the
data
set
of
the
months
where
stocks
are
the
best-
performing
asset.
Similarly,
when
the
maximum
total
return
of
the
four
stock
portfolios
is
less
than
the
minimum
of
the
five
bond
and
cash
portfolios,
that
observation
is
added
to
the
data
set
containing
the
months
where
stocks
are
the
worst-
performing
asset.
Over
the
15-
year
sample
period
I
found
that
there
were
55
months
where
stocks
were
the
best-
performing
asset
and
39
months
were
they
were
the
worst-
performing
asset.
At
the
next
step
Comer
employs
Sharpe’s
quadratic
program,
but
this
is
unnecessary
here
as
I
already
have
data
on
the
size
of
fund
stock
holdings
(as
a
percentage
of
the
overall
portfolio).
I
calculate
the
average
stock
portfolio
weight
during
the
months
when
stocks
are
the
best-
performing
asset
and
subtract
the
average
stock
portfolio
weight
from
months
where
stocks
are
the
worst-
performing
asset.
Doing
this,
I
find
that
over
the
sample
period,
the
average
stock
portfolio
weight
of
hybrid
funds
is
0.25%
higher
during
the
months
where
stocks
are
the
best-
performing
asset.
This
indicates
that
the
market
timing
ability
found
by
the
Characteristic
Timing
and
Factor
Timing
methodologies
are
not
spurious.

not
go
a
single day without browsing the web and seeing a site running on thesis. It is unbelievable. 8. Parallel
programming This application will also be build according to a parallel programming structure. Most
programming languages (like C++) work in a sequential manner or serial. This means that each step
will
run
after
the
other. This might not be capable of using all the hardware resources efficiently. The program will be
as
fast
as
the
total
amount
of
time
required to process each step. A parallel structure is capable of running multiple steps next to each
other
on
different
hardware threads. This way the time required to run the same application will decrease depending on
how
much
you
are
capable of running next to each other. In an ideal situation where you can parallelize all of the steps
and
work
on
a
high
concurrency the application will go as fast as the slowest step. There are a couple of ways to develop
a
parallel structure in a sequential programming language by manually programming threads, OpenMP
and
Intel Thread Building Blocks. When the threads are programmed manually, the highest level of
efficiency can be reached because the entire process is under the control of the developer but the
downside of doing everything manually is that it requires a lot of time and a certain degree of
expertise to make it work properly. OpenMP and Intel Thread Building Blocks are both libraries like
OpenCV but then for parallel programming. Both have lots of predefined functions and structures to
make
it
easier
to
develop the software and to maintain. Since both are similar in usage the choice of which one to use
came down between the differences. After some research it became clear that for this project it
would
be
better
to
use
the
Intel Thread Building Blocks library. Because it's written in C++ where OpenMP is written in C, and
OpenCV already makes use of Intel Thread Building Blocks under the hood. Parallel vs serial When
we
look at parallel programming there are two ways to look at it. One is to look for a more efficient use
of
time
and
another is to process more work in the same amount of time. Both ways will improve the algorithm
but
with
a
different
point of view. By example we will have a serial algorithm (Figure 2) in which each task takes up 100
milliseconds. 7Figure 2: Serial process Second factor that is considered in wordpress themes to make
them best is the customization and usability. Most wordpress users like their theme to be most
customizable
right from the wordpress settings page instead of editing the theme source code, because most of
them are lay users and doesn’t know programming which is essential to edit the theme source code.
18. 14 2.2 Introduction [2012]). Therefore, the analysis can only be considered as complementary to
studies on observational data and studies with more applied modelling tech- niques of higher process
complexity. With respect to numerical simulation of the collapse phenomenon a pi- oneering study
was
made by McNider et al. [1995]. By using a strongly idealized bulk model with parameterized
turbulent diffusion they showed that the
non-
linear structure of the governing equations may lead to non- trivial system behaviour in the form of
bifurcations and sensitivity to initial conditions. With a similar approach Van de Wiel et al. [2003]
illustrated the possibility of limit cycle behaviour due to non-linear atmosphere-surface in- teraction,
which
may lead to intermittent turbulence near the surface (cf. Rev- elle [1993]). Apart from those bulk
models, qualitatively similar behaviour has been reported by (more realistic) multi-layer RANS
models by e.g.: Der- byshire [1999], Delage et al. [2002], Shi et al. [2005], Costa et al. [2011],
Acevedo et al. [2012] and Łobocki [2013]. Apart from those parameterized approaches, studies with
turbulence-resolving models like Large-Eddy Sim- ulation have been mostly limited to the continuous
turbulent, weakly sta- ble case. LES-modeling becomes non-trivial in case of strong stratification,
when
turbulent transport on the subgrid scale become increasingly impor- tant (see e.g. discussion in Saiki
[2000], Beare and Mcvean [2004] and Ed- wards [2009]). Recently however, more studies analysed
cases with stronger stratification (e.g. Huang and Bou-Zeid [2013]) where turbulence may obtain an
intermittent character (Zhou and Chow [2011]) or may collapse at some stage (Jimenez and Cuxart
[2005]). In order to avoid sensitivity to subgrid scaling at large stability in LES an alternative is
available
in
the
form of so-called Direct Numerical Simu- lations (DNS; e.g. Coleman et al. [1992], N05, Boing et
al. [2010], Flores and Riley [2011] and Ansorge and Mellado [2014]). In DNS the govern- ing
equations
for
the
turbulent motion are fully resolved up to the smallest scale where turbulent kinetic energy is being
dissipated into heat. This means that there is no need to rely on (model specific) subgrid closure
assumptions, which is a clear advantage. However, an important drawback lies in the fact that due to
computational constraints only flows with modest Reynolds num- bers can be simulated. This means
that
generalization of the results requires additional simulations with models that are able to simulate
high-
Reynolds number flows such as LES. ResearchGate has not been able to resolve any citations for
this
publication. This is what makes Thesis so great. Unlike many other themes out there you will have to
do
a
lot of CSS and XHTML editing to make your site look unique, but with Thesis you can log into your
admin panel the second you activate it and make some changes really quickly and easily. Or you can
upload ad use your own custom style-sheet. A thesis statement is a crucial element of an academic
essay or research paper. It is a single sentence that summarizes the main argument or claim of the
essay and presents the supporting evidence for that argument. The thesis statement should be clear,
concise, and specific, and it should be placed at the beginning of the essay, usually in the first
paragraph. + 1-888-827-0150 Thanks for your comment. I agree, that’s a neat way of keeping the
titlepage separated from the rest of the document. Best, Tom. Here are just a few reasons why
dissertation proofreading is so helpful and what these editors do: 10. benchmarks that demonstrate
the
model checkers’ preferred fields of application and its limitations. If you’ve spent three seconds
online, you’ve bumped into either Thesis or Socrates websites. If you know what they look like, you
know what I mean. But what makes them so popular?

show that the unfolding and folding steps are confluent and are guaranteed to terminate returning a
unique Petri graph for each graph grammar G. Moreover, the Petri graph overapproxi- mates the
underlying graph grammar conservatively, that is, every hypergraph reachable from ι through
applications of R is also reachable in the resulting Petri graph. Since the Petri graph over-
approximates the unfolding of G, there exist, however, runs that reach a hypergraph unreachable in
G. Such a run is classified as spurious. If such a spurious run violates the specification, that is, there
exists a spurious coun- terexample trace to an error that is due to the over-approximation and not
realizable in the original system. Inspired by the work on counterexample-guided abstraction re-
finement (CEGAR) [43], K¨onig and Kozioura [110] present an abstraction refinement technique for
Petri
graphs. They show that spurious counterexamples result from the 31 Narrow down your ideas: After

a
Bruker designed program for all controls and detection. This was the simplest setup of the study and
produced no results. At room temperature, the signal strength was not strong enough and the
collected spectra showed only noise and cavity contaminations. During the second round of
experiments, we tried reducing the sample temperature with liquid nitrogen. We also moved to
different
spectrometer with a control console, not a computer program, and a TE 104 double cavity. To
accomplish the lower temperatures we used a special insulated glass Dewar. The Dewar has a long
hollow protrusion that the sample is lowered into. This protrusion then goes into the cavity and
allows for testing. We added a stopper around the test tube in order to keep liquid nitrogen from
entering into the cavity’s “sweet spot.” The quickly evaporating liquid nitrogen also caused small
vibrations that would have ruined the spectrum if we had not Figure 8: Basic EPR Spectrometer So

3.2 Introduction vided that perturbations of finite amplitude are imposed to the laminarized state and
provided that sufficient time for flow acceleration is allowed. As such, it is concluded that the
collapse of turbulence in this configuration is a temporary, transient phenomenon for which a
universal cooling rate does not exist. Finally, in the present work a one-
to-
one comparison between a param- eterized, local similarity model and the turbulence resolving model
(DNS), is made. Although, local similarity originates from observations that represent much larger
Reynolds numbers than those covered by our DNS simulations, both methods appear to predict very
similar mean velocity (and temperature) profiles. This suggests that in-depth analysis with DNS can
be
an
attractive complementary tool to study atmospheric physics in addition to tools which are able to
represent high Reynolds number flows like Large Eddy Simula- tion. 3.2 Introduction In this work a
numerical study on a strongly stratified channel flow is per- formed as an idealized analogy to
nocturnal boundary layer flows in condi- tions of clear skies and weak winds. We build on
pioneering work by Nieuw- stadt [2005] (herefrom: N05) who studied the collapse of turbulence
using
Direct Numerical Simulations. In particular, a re-interpretation of Nieuw- stadts findings (N05) is
made using recent theoretical insights (Van de Wiel et al. [2012a]; herefrom:VdW12). From this, an
intriguing paradox in Nieuw- stadts results is solved. It deals with the question if turbulence may or
may
not
recover from an initial collapse as a result of intensive surface cooling. It will be shown that even in
the
case of extreme cooling, flow acceleration after collapse enables a recovery, provided that sufficiently
large perturbations are present to trigger the onset to turbulence. From literature it is well-known that
weak wind conditions favour the occurrence of the so-called very stable atmospheric boundary layer
regime (Sun et al. [2012]). As turbulence is weak, intermittent, or virtually absent, fog and frost
events may easily occur. As such, a solid physical understand- ing of this regime is essential for
weather forecasting practice (Holtslag et al. [2013]). In contrast to the weakly stable boundary layer,
the
very stable boundary layer is poorly understood (for a recent review we refer to: Mahrt [2014]).

tested the robustness of the Characteristic Timing methodology, and concluded that it is providing us
with reliable and reasonable results, I would like to apply it to testing the three hypotheses that I
introduced in Section 2. Recall H1: H1: On average, hybrid funds are successful market timers. Table
5.1. provides the evidence needed to test this hypothesis. It states the aggregate overall score for
hybrid funds over the period from 2000 to 2014: 0.20290, at the 1% level of significance. Since I
already provided reasoning for finding this result accurate, we cannot reject this hypothesis. The
answer to my main research question is yes – hybrid funds are good market timers. It makes sense
that
hybrid funds are successful market timers. I argued previously from a theoretical point of view that,
as hybrid funds can invest in more types of asset classes, they have greater control over their ability
to allocate assets. Also, particularly more so for flexible portfolio funds, hybrid funds have a great
opportunity to adjust their asset allocations as market factors change (recall non-hybrid funds can
only alter the size of their cash allocation). One more reason why this result should not surprise us is
that
hybrid funds should, in theory, possess a superior knowledge of market factors. For example, hybrid
funds must have a great understanding of factors that affect stock returns as well as those that affect
bond returns, whereas as most funds only have to focus on one of these. It is interesting to recall that
most
of the past empirical research has found that equity funds and bond funds are not good market
timers, whereas my research has found that hybrid funds have exhibited stock and bond timing
ability (albeit, not significantly). Earlier works that included hybrid funds as part of a much larger
and
more general sample of mutual funds agree with my conclusion that hybrid funds are good market
timers. These works include the previously mentioned papers of Lee and Rahman (1990), Ferson and
Schadt (1996) and Volkman (1999). All of the sample periods for these papers end at or before 1990,
meaning there is no overlap at all with my sample period. As I stated in Section 2, none of these
studies analyse the bond portions of the portfolios. Comer (2006), the only pre-existing work on
hybrid fund market timing, applies the Factor Timing methodology to two sample of hybrid funds;
1981-1991 and 1992-2000. Comer finds evidence of market timing ability in the 1992-2000sample,
but no significant evidence in the 1981- More than idea we bring your idea to life ! The providers of

preferred fields of application and its limitations. 40. Conclusion The developed application
accomplishes the detection tasks initially considered. The algorithm runs in real time detecting fairly
well
for both blood and medical bandages. There is room for improvement but this can be carried out
without compromising it's real time execution. The implemented TBB framework doesn't need to be
manually reprogrammed to add execution tasks when additional processing resources are introduced.
If the computing demands exceed the available resources, the same program will optimize it's parallel
execution as best as possible. The TBB flow graph leaves room for expansion in the code to add
other texture detection methods for other objects or improvement of already implemented
algorithms. Personally this internship in Valladolid has been a very rewarding experience. I gained a
lot of knowledge and skills. From C++ to the little bit of the Spanish that I learned during my stay.
But most importantly the concepts of computer vision and parallel programming that I acquired.
Looking back on the project I would say that this project would have been better suited for a master
student in computer science. The two concepts that I had to learn for this project are in there courses.
The
time that I needed to spend on learning C++, OpenCV and TBB could have been used to improve
the
project further. Due to a lack in background knowledge, I created a lack of time for this project.
When I had the choice to take this project, I was well aware of the challenge it would give me as a
programmer. It is also the reason that I picked it, to make something that would be equally
challenging as interesting. This project gave me both, the only thing I could wish for now, is more
time to see the project through. The results I have made are a step towards finishing the project, but
there is still room for improvement and an even more urgent need for more video material to analyze,
test and perfect the algorithms. 39 Download to read offline Typescript. Thesis (M.S.)--University of

46. CHAPTER 3 Introduction to the .NET Framework This chapter gives an introduction to the
.NET Framework of Microsoft. First, the architecture of the .NET Framework is introduced. This
section includes terms like the Common Language Runtime, the .NET Class Library, the Common
Language Infrastructure and the Intermediate Language. These are discussed in more detail in the
sections following the architecture. 3.1 Introduction Microsoft defines [57] .NET as follows; “.NET
is the Microsoft Web services strategy to con- nect information, people, systems, and devices through
software.”. There are different .NET technologies in various Microsoft products providing the
capabilities to create solutions using web services. Web services are small, reusable applications that
help computers from many different operating system platforms work together by exchanging
messages. Based on indus- try standards like XML (Extensible Markup Language), SOAP (Simple
Object Access Protocol), and WSDL (Web Services Description Language) they provide a platform
and
language inde- pendent way to communicate. Microsoft products, such as Windows Server System
(providing web services) or Office Sys- tem (using web services) are some of the .NET technologies.
The
technology described in this chapter is the .NET Framework. Together with Visual Studio, an
integrated development envi- ronment, they provide the developer tools to create programs for .NET.
Many companies are largely dependent on the .NET Framework, but need or want to use AOP.
Currently there is no direct support for this in the Framework. The Compose /.NET project is
addressing these needs with its implementation of the Composition Filters approach for the .NET
Framework. This specific Compose version for .NET has two main goals. First, it combines the .NET
Framework with AOP through Composition Filters. Second, Compose offers superimposition 24

Bandage detection by color The first condition to detect a bandage is by filtering the image on the
color this works in a similar fashion as the blood detection. The main difference is that we are looking
for white and any color where the blue and green values are very close to each other . With red we
don't take into account if it's to be close to the green and blue values as the bandage can be smudged
with blood. Making it more red to completely red. Then we set a minimal value for the blue, green
and red values. Anything that's below those values will be too dark to be the bandage. There is a
point where the bandage is to badly smudged with blood that it would be impossible to distinguish it
from actual blood. For this situation there needs to be more visual marital to analyze if there is other
solution the detect it properly. The parts that comply with these conditions will be marked as white
in a binary image. Below you can see the conditions for the bandage color detection. If the following
conditions are met we consider it to be blood when the brightness is high -15 < (B - G) < 15 R > 150
B > 60 G > 60 (R – B)
<
100
2.
Bandage
detection
by
texture
The
second
condition
to
detect
the
bandage
is
to
get
out
all
the
parts
that
have
some
sort
of
texture.
We
do
this
by
taking
the
standard
deviation
and
of
the
entire
frame.
First
we
convert
the
frame
to
a
gray
scale.
secondly
we
take
the
standard
deviation
of
the
frame.
At
last
we
convert
the
image
to
a
binary
image
where
the
with
parts
are
those
with
any
kind
of
texture.
This
will
not
always
succeed.
In
some
of
the
available
images
due
to
that
the
white
parts
are
over
saturated
when
the
light
of
the
camera
hits
the
white
bandage.
Removing
the
texture
from
the
bandage.
It's
possible
that
when
the
actual
HD
footage
will
not
have
this
problem
due
to
that
there
are
more
pixels
that
the
texture
is
divided
among.
3.
Combining
color
and
texture
The
third
condition
is
to
combine
both
of
the
conditions
of
color
and
texture
to
determine
if
there
is
a
bandage
present
in
the
image.
We
do
this
by
taking
both
of
the
binary
images
and
applying
a
bitwise
and
operation
on
both
of
them.
Once
we
have
the
part
where
both
the
color
and
texture
conditions
are
met
we
look
for
the
biggest
object
in
the
result
and
cut
out
the
smaller
objects
which
can
include
reflections
of
the
light
on
an
organ
that
has
a
lot
of
textures
through
the
veins.

EPR

Electron
Paramagnetic
Resonance
(EPR)
Spectroscopy
is
a
sensitive
and
accurate
tool
for
viewing
structural
defects
in
semiconductors
and
other
materials.
This
technique
functions
by
creating
a
large
magnetic
field
through
the
sample.
This
overpowering
field
lines
up
electrons
which
will
spin
either
with
the
field
(low
energy)
or
against
the
field
(high
energy).
By
creating
this
new
energy
difference,
we
can
examine
patterns
through
the
electrons’
behavior.
While
inducing
the
magnetic
field,
we
exposed
the
sample
to
high
energy
microwaves.
The
photons
will
react
with
electrons
which
will
then
flip
their
spins.
By
measuring
the
number
of
flips
from
low
to
high
energy
levels,
we
get
what
is
called
an
absorption
spectrum.
In
each
EPR
experiment,
the
field
strength
is
slowly
increased.
This
proportionally
increases
the
energy
required
to
flip
the
spinning
electrons.
Figure
4
explains
that
the
total
energy
required
to
flip
the
spins
is
the
difference
between
the
two
energy
levels.
The
phenomenon
known
as
magnetic
resonance
happens
whenever
the
photons
the
sample
is
exposed
to
and
the
field

gap
are
equal.
The
equation
used
to
determine
resonance
conditions
is
as
follows:
By
understanding
material
properties,
we
can

exactly
what
a

One
of
the
key
elements
of
CF
is
the
message,
a
message
is
the
interaction
between
objects,
for
instance
a
method
call.
In
object-
oriented
programming
the
message
is
considered
an
abstract
concept.
In
the
implementations
of
CF
it
is
therefore
necessary
to
reify
the
message.
This
reified
message
contains
properties,
like
where
it
is
send
to
and
where
it
came
from.
The
concept
of
CF
is
that
messages
that
enter
and
exit
an
object
can
be
intercepted
and
manip-
ulated,
modifying
the
original
flow
of
the
message.
To
do
so,
a
layer
called
the
interface
part
is
introduced
in
the
CF
model,
this
layer
can
have
several
properties.
The
interface
part
can
be
placed
on
an
object,
which
behavior
needs
to
be
altered,
and
this
object
is
referred
to
as
inner.
There
are
three
key
elements
in
CF:
messages,
filters,
and
superimposition.
Messages
are
sent
from
one
object
to
another,
if
there
is
an
interface
part
placed
on
the
receiver,
then
the
message
that
is
sent
goes
through
the
input
filters.
In
the
filters
the
message
can
be
manipulated
before
it
reaches
the
inner
part,
the
message
can
even
be
sent
to
another
object.
How
the
message
will
be
handled
depends
on
the
filter
type.
An
output
filter
is
similar
to
an
input
filter,
the
only
difference
is
that
it
manipulates
messages
that
originate
from
the
inner
part.
The
latest
addition
to
CF
is
superimposition,
which
is
used
to
specify
which
interfaces
needs
to
be
superimposed
on
which
inner
objects.

METHODOLOGY
There
are
many
different
ways
to
approach
measuring
the
ability
of
mutual
funds
to
time
the
market.
Most
methodologies
in
the
mutual
fund
performance
literature
look
at
market
timing
only
with
respect
to
equities,
and
often
for
varying
reasons
these
methodologies
cannot
be
extended
to
include
bonds.
Less
often,
the
opposite
also
applies.
In
particular,
this
makes
it
difficult
to
measure
the
market
timing
ability
of
hybrid
funds.
It
is
because
of
this
that
I
combine
two
different
methodologies,
one
specifically
for
equity
market
timing
and
another
specifically
for
bond
market
timing.
Both
methodologies
are
successful
in
their
own
right
and
they
can
be
combined
in
a
logical
way
to
create
a
new
methodology
for
measuring
the
market
timing
ability
of
hybrid
funds
and
testing
my
hypotheses.
As
a
means
of
a
robustness
check,
I
also
plan
to
apply
the
only
pre-
existing
methodology
for
measuring
hybrid
fund
market
timing.
4.1
VARIABLES
AND
MEASURES
In
this
section
I
discuss
two
methodologies
for
measuring
market
timing
in-
depth.
The
first
methodology
is
a
holdings-
based
methodology
that
measures
a
variable
know
as
Characteristic
Timing.
The
second
methodology
uses
a
factor-
based
quadratic
regression,
called
Factor
Timing,
to
measure
market
timing
ability.
Both
methodologies
were
introduced
in
Section
2,
but
this
discussion
goes
deeper
and
explains
how
I
apply
them
to
my
sample.
I
use
Characteristic
Timing
as
my
primary
methodology
and
the
Factor
Timing
methodology
will
then
be
applied
as
a
robustness
test
for
the
Characteristic
Timing
results.
4.1.1
Characteristic
Timing
In
order
to
measure
the
market
timing
ability
of
hybrid
funds
I
need
to
be
able
to
measure
their
market
timing
ability
with
respect
to
equity
holdings
and
to
bond
holdings.
In
order
to
do
this,
I
combine
two
different
methodologies,
both
based
on
the
original
Characteristic
Timing
measure
of
Grinblatt
and
Titman
(1993).
I
will
use
the
methodology
of
Daniel
et
al.
(1997)
for
equity
holdings
and
the
methodology
of
Moneta
(2009)
for
bond
holdings.
This
methodology
works
by
measuring
the
extent
that
funds
time
their
exposures
to
the
changing
characteristics
of
different
investment
assets.
The
methodologies
of
Daniel
et
al.
and
Moneta
both
appear
to
generate
accurate
findings
and
so
applying
an
intuitive
combination
of
the
two
is
a
natural
next
step.

The

executes
code

These
core

are
memory

code
safety
verification
and
compilation.
Apart
from
providing
services,
the

also
enforces
code
access
security
and
code
robustness.
Code
access
security
is
enforced
by
providing
varying
degrees
of
trust
to
components,
based
on
a
number
of
factors,
e.g.,
the
origin
of
a
component.
This
way,
a
managed
component
might
or
might
not
be
able
to
perform
sensitive
functions,
like
file-

or
registry-

By
im-
plementing
a
strict
type-
and-
code-
verification
infrastructure,
called
the
Common
Type
System
(CTS),
the
CLR
enforces
code
robustness.
Basically
there
are
two
types
of
code;
Managed
Managed
code
is
code,
which
has
its

its
types
validated
at
execu-
tion
by
the
CLR.
It
has
to
conform
to
the
Common
Type
Specification
(CTS
Section
3.4).
If
interoperability
with
components
written
in
other
languages
is
required,
managed
code
has
to
conform
to
an
even
more
strict
set
of
specifications,
the
Common

(CLS).
The

independent
intermediate
language

as

3.6)
[82].
Unmanaged
Unmanaged
code
is
not
managed
by
the
CLR.
It
is
stored
in
the
native
machine
language
and
is
not
run
by
the
runtime
but
directly
by
the
processor.
All
language
compilers
(targeting

we
see
a

score
of
0.18891
and
a

score
of
0.00125,
for
all
hybrid
funds.
This
largely fits in line with the Factor Timing results. As we can see in Table 5.3., the coefficients for
both
stocks and bonds are positive. The difference comes from the bond coefficient being much higher
than
the
stock coefficient. The coefficients from the Factor Timing regression are significant at the 5% level
for
stocks and at the 1% level for bonds, whereas for Characteristic Timing only the score is
significant, in particular at the 10% level. We can certainly be confident about the signs of the
scores as they are both positive, just like the Factor Timing coefficients. Because the separate
scores and Factor Timing coefficients are all positive we would expect the aggregate overall
score
for
2000-2014 to also be positive – and it is. Note that there is no meaningful way to combine the Factor
Timing
stock and bond coefficients together, which makes the previous statement the best argument
available.
To
further compare the results from Table 5.1. to the results from Table 5.3. I average the scores for
stocks and bonds over the same five-year increments to make them more comparable to the five-year
Factor
Timing
coefficients. All of the five-year scores are positive, barring the score for 2000-2004. This
means
that
only
two
(the 2005-2009 and scores) of the six five-year scores have signs that agree with
the
signs of the relevant Factor Timing Period Stocks Bonds 2000-2014 0.02862** 1.24631*** (2.27)

stocks and bonds, of all hybrid funds between 2000 and 2014. The adjusted R-squared for 2000-
2014 is 87.41%. * Significant at the 10% level. ** Significant at the 5% level. *** Significant at the
1% level. Whatever areas of study, schools of thought, and other sources of information you are
doing, you need to mention it. It should be clear at the research stage only. It may be that a pretty
site will have a lowered bounce rate – but if the website has targeted traffic, is properly SEOed, and
people are interested in your topic – then the look of the site is the last thing to worry about. 27. The

and
θ the instantaneous temperature. The pressure term Ptot represents the total pressure without
hydrostatic contribu- tion, and it can be further decomposed as: 1 ρ ∂Ptot ∂xi = 1 ρ ∂P ∂xi + 1 ρ ∂p
∂xi , (2.11) with ∂P/∂xi the mean pressure gradient (which is zero except in the x1 di- rection) and ∂p
/∂x the fluctuation of the pressure gradient. Next we use the definition of u∗ext: u2 ∗ext = h ( − 1 ρ
∂P ∂x1 ) . (2.12) By inserting (2.11) and (2.12) into (2.10), we obtain: ∂ui ∂t + uj ∂ui ∂xj = u2 ∗ext h
δi,1 − 1 ρ ∂p ∂xi + θ Tref gδi,3 + ν ∂2ui ∂x2 j . (2.13) The continuity equation and momentum and
temperature equations are non-dimensionalized by the surface friction velocity u∗ext, depth of the
chan- nel h and temperature scale θ∗ext, where θ∗ext = −H0/(ρcpu∗ext). Following N05, the
resulting non-dimensional equations are: ∂ ˆui ∂ˆxi = 0 ∂ˆui ∂ˆt + ˆuj ∂ˆui ∂ˆxj =
δi,1 − ∂ˆp ∂ˆxi + 1 κ h Lext ˆθδi,3 + 1 Re∗ ∂2 ˆui ∂ˆx2 j ∂ˆθi ∂ˆt + ˆuj ∂ˆθi ∂ˆxj = − 1 PrRe∗ ∂2 ˆθi

h/Lext defined as: h Lext = κgh Tref θ∗ext u2 ∗ext . (2.15) 52. 3.5 Framework Class Library Figure

allowed for 45 minutes of uninterrupted run time. On several occasions we attempted to refill the
Dewar mid-experiment. We hoped that by pausing the machines and pouring gently into the Dewar,
we
could run the experiment for a longer period. This turned out to be incorrect however, because the
sample
would move every time and ruin the already fragile tuning Tuning at this temperature became very
difficult
and
it
soon became evident that the cavity was being “loaded.” This means that there is a magnetic field
within the cavity causing a disruption to the already existing fields. Loading takes place when the
sample
is
conductive or if there is water in the cavity. In this case, the CdTe has become conductive. The
movement of electrons in the sample causes the internal disrupting field. Figure 9: Insulated Dewars

used
a
Bruker EXM Spectrometer with a TE 102 single cavity. This spectrometer used a Bruker designed
program for all controls and detection. This was the simplest setup of the study and produced no
results.
At
room temperature, the signal strength was not strong enough and the collected spectra showed only
noise and cavity contaminations. During the second round of experiments, we tried reducing the
sample
temperature with liquid nitrogen. We also moved to different spectrometer with a control console,
not
a
computer program, and a TE 104 double cavity. To accomplish the lower temperatures we used a
special insulated glass Dewar. The Dewar has a long hollow protrusion that the sample is lowered
into. This protrusion then goes into the cavity and allows for testing. We added a stopper around the
test
tube in order to keep liquid nitrogen from entering into the cavity’s “sweet spot.” The quickly
evaporating liquid nitrogen also caused small vibrations that would have ruined the spectrum if we
had not Figure 8: Basic EPR Spectrometer A complete research paper in apa style that is reporting on

More
and
real
data
At
this
point
we
can
say
that
the
video
and
images
available
to
work
with
were
sufficient
to
get
a
general
idea
of
what
we
are
dealing
with.
But
most
of
the
data
is
limited
to

of

to

It's
not
sufficient
for
testing
the
algorithms
on
these
videos.
For
future
work
on
this
project
it
would
be
best
that
there
is
at
least
one
full
video
of
a
surgery.
More
data
will
always
be
better
with
the
actual
video
resolution
that
will
need
to
be
processed.
Testing
the
algorithms
on
this
kind
of
data
will
provide
a
better
insight
on
how
efficient
the
algorithms
need
to
be
written
as
well
to
give
a
better
way
to
analyze
the
difficulties
the
algorithms
might
encounter.
An
example
of
this
is
to
see
how
the
algorithm
reacts
to
changes
in
the
illumination.
In
the
current
available
video
material
we
can
see
that
the
illumination
takes
a
big
toll,
but
the
differences
are
only
seen
when
we
change
between
videos.
It's
unclear
if
this
will
also
be
the
case
if
the
source
camera
is
the
same.
If
this
is
also
the
case
a
part
of
that
video
needs
to
be
cut
out
analyzed
and
the
algorithm
needs
to
be
adjusted
to
take
in
account
the
illumination
changes.
This
will
require
to
make
the
parameters
for
the
blood
detection
increase
and
decrease
as
the
illumination
value
changes.
This
will
be
a
linear
process
and
therefore
should
not
be
hard
to
take
in
account.
Another
reason
to
work
with
actual
data
is
that
the
resolution
will
be
higher
then
the
current
available
data.
This
will
make
texture
detection
easier
since
there
are
more
pixels
that
the
texture
is
divided
among.
This
will
also
inflict
required
processing
resources.
But
this
will
also
be
a
good
then
the
program
can
be
tested
with
the
actual
load
it
will
require
to
process.

functioning is vital and a matter of utmost importance. To counter the ever growing complexity of
nowadays software, graphical and textual modeling languages, like the Unified Modeling Language
(UML) [152], began to perme- ate the modern development process. The reason for this
development is twofold; first, models abstract away irrelevant details and, second, they express ideas
and
solutions
in
the
language
of
the
problem domain. In the context of model-driven software develop- ment model transformations take
a
pivotal role. Their use and shape are manifold [50] and their field of application includes, among
others, model-to-text transformation, that may be used, e.g., to generate executable code from
models, and model-to-model trans- formations. The latter group can be divided into endogenous and
exogenous model-to- model transformations. Exogenous model transformations describe translations
between
two types of models, where the so-called source model is converted into a target model of a
different type. An example of an exogenous model transformation is the well-known and often
portrayed object/relational transformation that maps a class diagram to an entity relationship
diagram. While exogenous model transformations perform a conversion between two types of
models, endogenous model-to-model transformations modify or refine models, that is, source and
target model of an endogenous transformation are of identical type. In this respect, endogenous
model transformations are used to define computations on models, where the source model
represents the current state and the target model the next state of the system. Hence, endogenous
model transformations can capture the behavior of a system. The case of endogenous model
transformations will be the focus of this dissertation. Among the multitude of available model
transformation languages, the theory of graph transformations [62,173] offers a formal, concise, and
mathematically well-studied language to describe modifications on graphs. In the following we will
thus assume that models are expressed in terms of attributed, typed graphs with inheritance and
containment relations [24] and model transformations in terms of double-pushout (DPO) graph
transformations [47]. In the context of model-driven software development a system may thus be
formally described by graphs that define its static structure and graph transformations that capture
the
system’s behavior. Problem Statement. Graph transformations offer a Turing complete model of com-
putation [128] and are as such as expressive as any other conventional programming language.
Consequently, verification techniques that assert the functional quality of model based software are
required
to
trace and eliminate defects in modeling artifacts, i.e., models and model transformations or, likewise,
graphs and graph transformations. To increase the acceptance of such a verification technique it
should
(i) allow users to formulate their verification tasks in the language of the problem domain they are
familiar with, (ii) present the result of the verification in the language of the problem domain, and 2
You
should
always
use
effective search techniques. You must use useful search techniques. This will help you to make the
target audience understand your research paper. Moreover, the target audience will feel that they are
refereeing a good source. In addition to being concise and specific, a good thesis statement should
also
be
debatable. It should present a point of view that can be argued or supported with evidence. This
helps to engage the reader and make the essay more interesting and thought-provoking. No theme is
“Perfect”, as any theme can virtually be improved in one way or another, however, there are
probably
many users out there that would argue that Thesis is very close to being a perfect theme. Below I
highlight some of the advantages and disadvantages of Thesis so you can see what things are
awesome and what could be improved. More specifically, a thesis often takes the form of a literature
review, which is a compilation of research knowledge in a particular field of study that proves one is
competent in that subject. On the other hand, a dissertation is a more specific type of research paper
written
by
those working toward a specific doctorate degree that contributes knowledge, theory, or methods to
a
field of study. Thesis vs Dissertation: Main Differences 26. 22 2.4 Collapse of turbulence in DNS
when
the
ambient wind speed is larger than the minimum wind speed. In the next section, it will become clear
that
only
condition (i) is valid for our channel flow (as a result of the specific boundary condition imposed in
N05). However, it will also be shown that vertical flux-divergence is naturally taken into account in
the
general
case
and
that
a
momentum constraint analogue to (ii) is at play. Therefore the analysis above is considered as a
useful
concep- tual benchmark for the more detailed analysis in the following. 2.4 Collapse of turbulence in
DNS 2.4.1 Set up of DNS In the present study, the set up is inspired by N05. The simulations are
per-
formed in an open channel flow, statistically homogeneous in the horizontal directions, forced by a
horizontal pressure gradient (∂P/∂x) and cooled at the surface. The pressure gradient is imposed by
assigning a value for the frictional Reynolds number: Re∗ = u∗exth/ν = 360, with h the channel
depth and ν the kinematic viscosity of the fluid. For interpretation: the value of u∗ext equals the
surface friction velocity u∗0 in steady state. The subscript ’ext’ refers to the fact that external
parameters
are
used for this velocity scale (in contrast to the actual surface friction velocity u∗0(t) which varies in
time). Here, u∗ext is defined as u∗ext = √ −(1/ρ)(∂P/∂x)h. At the top of the domain (z = h), the
temperature is fixed at Tref and free-stress condition is imposed (∂u/∂z = 0). At the bottom, a no-slip
condition is applied. Zero vertical velocity is prescribed at the top and at the bottom of the domain.
In
both
horizontal directions periodic boundary conditions are applied. As initial condition, a fully developed
neutral channel flow is applied. The simula- tions are performed with a constant time step equal to ∆t
=
0.0002t∗, where t∗ is defined as t∗ = h/u∗ext. Figure 2.4 presents a schematic picture of the flow
configuration. The governing equations for this configuration are the conservation equa- tions for

Compose
Compose
is
an
implementation
of
the
composition
filters
approach.
There
are
three
target
environments:
the
.NET,
Java,
and
C.
This
chapter
is
organized
as
follows,
first
the
evolution
of
Composition
Filters
and
its
implementations
are
described,
followed
by
an
explanation
of
the
Compose
language
and
a
demonstrating
example.
In
the
third
section,
the
Compose
architecture
is
explained,
followed
by
a
description
of
the
features
specific
to
Compose
.

The
first
version
of
Sina
is
developed
by
Mehmet
Aks¸it.
This
version
of
Sina
contains
a
preliminary
version
of
the
composition
filters
concept
called
semantic
networks.
The
semantic
network
construction
serves
as
an
extension
to
objects,
such
as
classes,
mes-
sages,
or
instances.
These
objects
can
be
configured
to
form
other
objects
such
as
classes
from
which
instances
can
be
created.
The
object
manager
takes
care
of
syn-
chronization
and
message
processing
of
an
object.
The
semantic
network
construction
can
express
key
concepts
like
delegation,
reflection,
and
synchronization
[47].
1987
Together
with
Anand
Tripathi
of
the
University
of
Minnesota
the
Sina
language
is
further
developed.
The
semantic
network
approach
is
replaced
by
declarative
specifi-
cations
and
the
interface
predicate
construct
is
added.
1991
The
interface
predicates
are
replaced
by
the
dispatch
filter,
and
the
wait
filter
manages
the
synchronization
functions
of
the
object
manager.
Message
reflection
and
real-
time
specifications
are
handled
by
the
meta
filter
and
the
real-
time
filter
[7].
1995
The
Sina
language
with
Composition
Filters
is
implemented
using
Smalltalk
[47].
The

supports
most
of
the
filter
types.

Intel
Thread
Building
Blocks
(TBB)
The
goal
of
a
programmer
in
a
modern
computing
environment
is
scalability:
to
take
advantage
of
both
cores
on
a
dual-
core
processor,
all
four
cores
on
a
quad-
core
processor,
and
so
on.
Threading
Building
Blocks
makes
writing
scalable
applications
much
easier
than
it
is
with
traditional
threading
packages.
The
advantage
of
Threading
Building
Blocks
is
that
it
works
at
a
higher
level
than
raw
threads,
yet
does
not
require
exotic
languages
or
compilers.
Threading
Building
Blocks:
tasks
instead
of
threads.
Most
threading
packages
require
you
to
create,
join,
and
manage
threads.
Programming
directly
in
terms
of
threads
can
be
tedious
and
can
lead
to
inefficient
programs
because
threads
are
low-
level,
heavy
constructs
that
are
close
to
the
hardware.
Direct
programming
with
threads
forces
you
to
do
the
work
to
efficiently
map
logical
tasks
onto
threads.
In
contrast,
the
Threading
Building
Blocks
runtime
library
automatically
schedules
tasks
onto
threads
in
a
way
that
makes
efficient
use
of
processor
resources.
The
runtime
is
very
effective
at
load-
balancing
the
many
tasks
you
will
be
specifying.
By
avoiding
programming
in
a
raw
native
thread
model,
you
can
expect
better
portability,
easier
programming,
more
understandable
source
code,
and
better
performance
and
scalability
in
general.
Thread
Building
Blocks:
Flow
Graph
The
flow
graph
feature
from
the
TBB
library
is
designed
to
let
developers
easily
express
parallel,
reactive
and
streaming
applications.
Unlike
the
other
elements
from
the
TBB
library
the
flow
graph
can
be
any
kind
of
structure.
This
gives
us
the
freedom
to
tailer
it
to
what
the
application
needs
to
perform
its
best
and
most
efficient
(Figure
16).
The
base
of
the
application
will
be
made
in
a
flow
graph
manner.
This
gives
us
the
ability
to
let
a
lot
of
different
detections
to
run
simultaneously,
using
all
of
the
hardware
would
not
only
save
us
in
time
that
is
required
to
process
all
of
the
data
but
also
gives
us
room
to
process
more
without
a
performance
loss
visible
for
the
end
user
(robot).

Portfolio
Allocation
Analysis
is
that
a
fund
that
demonstrates
stock
timing
ability
will
have
a
higher
percentage
of
the
portfolio
allocated
to
stocks
during
the
months
in
which
stock
returns
are
higher
than
bond
and
cash
returns.
Likewise,
the
fund
should
have
a
lower
portfolio
allocation
to
stocks
during
the
months
in
which
stocks
underperform
bonds
and
cash.
By
estimating
portfolio
allocations
during
up
and
down
stock
markets,
I
can
examine
whether
differences
in
stock
allocations
are
correlated
with
the
stock
timing
ability
estimated
by
the
[Factor
Timing]
model.”
I
will
now
sketch
out
how
I
implement
the
Portfolio
Allocation
Analysis.
Recall
that
in
equation
(4.5)
there
are
four
portfolios
representing
stock
returns
and
four
portfolios
representing
bond
returns.
I
collected
the
total
returns
(not
excess
returns)
of
these
eight
portfolios
as
well
as
the
total
returns
of
cash
(as
used
in
equation
(4.2)),
for
the
duration
of
the
2000-
2014
sample
period.
Now
I
apply
Henriksson
and
Merton’s
dummy
variable
approach
to
create
two
different
data
sets.
For
each
monthly
observation
I
compute
the
maximum
and
the
minimum
total
return
of
the
four
stock
portfolios.
I
also
do
this
for
the
four
bond
portfolios,
combined
with
the
cash
portfolio.
When
the
minimum
total
return
of
the
stock
portfolios
is
greater
than
the
maximum
total
return
of
the
bond
and
cash
portfolios,
I
add
that
observation
to
the
data
set
of
the
months
where
stocks
are
the
best-
performing
asset.
Similarly,
when
the
maximum
total
return
of
the
four
stock
portfolios
is
less
than
the
minimum
of
the
five
bond
and
cash
portfolios,
that
observation
is
added
to
the
data
set
containing
the
months
where
stocks
are
the
worst-
performing
asset.
Over
the
15-
year
sample
period
I
found
that
there
were
55
months
where
stocks
were
the
best-
performing
asset
and
39
months
were
they
were
the
worst-
performing
asset.
At
the
next
step
Comer
employs
Sharpe’s
quadratic
program,
but
this
is
unnecessary
here
as
I
already
have
data
on
the
size
of
fund
stock
holdings
(as
a
percentage
of
the
overall
portfolio).
I
calculate
the
average
stock
portfolio
weight
during
the
months
when
stocks
are
the
best-
performing
asset
and
subtract
the
average
stock
portfolio
weight
from
months
where
stocks
are
the
worst-
performing
asset.
Doing
this,
I
find
that
over
the
sample
period,
the
average
stock
portfolio
weight
of
hybrid
funds
is
0.25%
higher
during
the
months
where
stocks
are
the
best-
performing
asset.
This
indicates
that
the
market
timing
ability
found
by
the
Characteristic
Timing
and
Factor
Timing
methodologies
are
not
spurious.

grows
in
time,
the
laminar

is
unsta-
ble
and
a
flow
transition
to
a
turbulent
state
is
foreseen
(e.g.
Miles
[1961];
Boing
et
al.
[2010]).
This
methodology
in
order
to
predict
the
transition
to
turbulence
is
nowadays
widely
accepted
in
fluid
mechanics
(e.g.
Kundu
and
Cohen
[2008]).
However,
for
the
reverse
transition,
from
turbulent
to
lami-
nar,
such
approach
appears
to
be
unsuitable:
an
analytical
description
of
the
basic
state
(which
would
have
to
be
perturbed)
is
unavailable,
as
turbulence
is
chaotic
in
itself.
Recently,
a
new
perspective
to
this
problem
has
been
provided
by
Van
de
Wiel
et
al.
[2012a],
for
the
case
of
flux-
driven
stratified
flows.
In
reality,
such
case
could
be
an
idealization
of
clear
sky
nocturnal
boundary
layer
over
fresh
snow,
i.e.
when
the
atmospheric
boundary
layer
is
cooled
by
longwave
radiation
from
a
surface
which
is
isolated
from
the
underlying
soil.
In
the
ap-
proach
in
Van
de
Wiel
et
al.
[2012a],
the
turbulent
basic
state
is
represented
by
a
statistical
approximation
of
its
mean
characteristics,
rather
than
by
an
exact
description.
Next,
it
was
observed
that
this
approximate
mathematical
descriptions
points
towards
an
unforeseen
physical
consequence:
it
predicts
that
the
heat
transport
that
can
be
transported
vertically
in
stratified
flow
is
limited
to
a
definite
maximum.
When
the
heat
extraction
at
the
surface
ex-
ceeds
this
maximum
the
density
stratification
near
the
surface
becomes
so
strong
that
turbulence
cannot
be
maintained.
In
this
thesis
this
concept
is
denoted
as:
the
Maximum
Sustainable
Heat
Flux
theory.
A
nice
property
of
the
theory
is
that
the
anticipated
point
of
regime-
transition
does
not
ap-
pear
to
be
very
sensitive
to
the
specific
form
of
the
formulations
which
are
used
to
approximate
the
turbulent
basic
state.

Conclusion
The
developed
application
accomplishes
the
detection
tasks
initially
considered.
The
algorithm
runs
in
real
time
detecting
fairly
well
for
both
blood
and
medical
bandages.
There
is
room
for
improvement
but
this
can
be
carried
out
without
compromising
it's
real
time
execution.
The
implemented
TBB
framework
doesn't
need
to
be
manually
reprogrammed
to
add
execution
tasks
when
additional
processing
resources
are
introduced.
If
the
computing
demands
exceed
the
available
resources,
the
same
program
will
optimize
it's
parallel
execution
as
best
as
possible.
The
TBB
flow

leaves
room
for
expansion
in
the
code
to
add
other
texture
detection
methods
for
other
objects
or
improvement
of
already
implemented
algorithms.
Personally
this
internship
in
Valladolid
has
been
a
very
rewarding
experience.
I
gained
a
lot
of
knowledge
and
skills.
From
C++
to
the
little
bit
of
the
Spanish
that
I
learned
during
my
stay.
But
most
importantly
the
concepts
of
computer
vision
and
parallel
programming
that
I
acquired.
Looking
back
on
the
project
I
would
say
that
this
project
would
have
been
better
suited
for
a
master
student
in
computer
science.
The
two
concepts
that
I
had
to
learn
for
this
project
are
in
there
courses.
The
time
that
I
needed
to
spend
on
learning
C++,
OpenCV
and
TBB
could
have
been
used
to
improve
the
project
further.
Due
to
a
lack
in
background
knowledge,
I
created
a
lack
of
time
for
this
project.
When
I
had
the
choice
to
take
this
project,
I
was
well
aware
of
the
challenge
it
would
give
me
as
a
programmer.
It
is
also
the
reason
that
I
picked
it,
to
make
something
that
would
be
equally
challenging
as
interesting.
This
project
gave
me
both,
the
only
thing
I
could
wish
for
now,
is
more
time
to
see
the
project
through.
The
results
I
have
made
are
a
step
towards
finishing
the
project,
but
there
is
still
room
for
improvement
and
an
even
more
urgent
need
for
more
video
material
to
analyze,
test
and
perfect
the
algorithms.

As
we

the

whereas
for

only
the

is
significant,
in

at

We
can
certainly
be
confident
about
the
signs
of
the

scores
as
they
are
both
positive,
just
like
the

Because

we
would
expect
the

and
it
is.

CheckVML

the

and
a
model
instance
that

the
system’s

system.
Internally,
the
metamodel
is
represented
as
an
attributed
type
graph
with
inher-
itance
relations
and
the
initial
model
is
an
instance
graph
conforming
to
the
type
graph
derived
from
the
metamodel.
CheckVML
uses
the
model
checker
spin
as
its
verification
back-
end.
It
thus
encodes
the
GTS
into
Promela
code,
the
input
language
of
spin.
For
each
class
the
encoding
uses
a
one-
dimensional
Boolean
array, whose index corresponds to the objects’ IDs, and the value stored for each object indicates
whether
the
object
is
active or not. Since arrays are of fixed size CheckVML requires from the user an a priori upper bound
on
the
number
of
objects
for
each
class. Further, for each associ- ation CheckVML allocates a two-dimensional Boolean array that
stores whether there exists an association between two objects. To construct a finite encoding of the
system the domain of each attribute is required to be finite such that it can be represented by an
enumeration of possible values in Promela. Further, since spin has no knowledge of graph
transformations
all
possible
applications
for
each
transformation are pre-computed and transitions are added to the Promela model accordingly. To
reduce the size of the state space CheckVML tries to identify static model elements that are not
changed by any transformation and omits them from the encoding. The state space, however, still
grows
fast as symmetry reductions for the encoding are possible only to a very limited extent in spin. For
example, a direct comparison [167] with Groove [165] (see below) showed that the encoding of the
dining philosophers problem with ten philoso- phers produces 328 503 states but only 32 903 are
actually
necessary. Interestingly, even though the state space is an order of magnitude larger, the performance
of
the
veri- fication does not degrade as anticipated. CheckVML with its spin back-end verifies the dining
philosophers instance 12x faster (16.6 seconds including pre-processing) than Groove (199.5
seconds) [167].4 CheckVML supports the specifications of safety and reachability properties by
means
of
property
graphs that are automatically translated into LTL formulas for spin. Unfortunately, counter-example
traces from spin are not translated back automatically. A similar approach is proposed by Baresi et al.
[11], whose encoding produces BIR (Bandera Intermediate Representation) code for the model
checker
Bogor [171]. They translate typed, attributed graphs into sets of records. They, too, bound the
number
of
admissible objects per class. Again, associations are encoded into arrays of predefined, fixed size.
This
approach
supports
class
inheritance, i.e., in a preprocessing step all inher- itance hierarchies are flattened such that attributes
of
the
supertypes are propagated to the most concrete type. Like CheckVML, containment relations are not
supported na- tively. Further, they distinguish between static and dynamic references and keep track

Intel
Core i5 2.67Ghz with 8GB of RAM running Gentoo Linux with OpenJDK 1.6. Taking into
consideration that Groove was in its infancy when the comparison was performed in 2004, this
improved result reflects the development efforts of past years. In contrast, spin, the verification back-
end
of
CheckVML, has been under active development since the 1980s [14]. However, we cannot provide
up-to-date runtimes for CheckVML as it is currently not available to the public. 28 Shakespeare

effectively rendering their documentation purposes obsolete. In MDD, on the other hand, an initial
model
of
a
system under development is refined in multiple iterations and eventually translated into the final
executable program and other deliverables by so-called model transformations. The lifting of models
to
first
class
development artifacts thus goes hand in hand with the pivotal role of model trans- formations [180].
Model transformations have various fields of application in MDSD and may not only be used in the
process
of
generating deliverables but also to describe computations on models or, similarly, to implement the
behavior
of
a
model
by
making explicit the effects on the model of an operation call of the system [50]. An important
concept
in
MDSD is that of a metamodel that defines the language, or visually speaking, the building blocks
that
are
allowed to be used in building a so-called instance model of the metamodel. A model conforms to
the
metamodel
if it adheres to the structure prescribed by the metamodel. Similar to the relation between metamodel
and
instance
model,
a
meta-metamodel defines the necessary conformity constraints for a metamodel. Each additional
meta-level simplifies the set of available language features, or building blocks, until a core of
concepts
remains that is able to recursively define itself. Thus, the model at some meta-level conforms to itself,
effectively bootstrapping the conformance relation. Note that we will follow the common convention
that
refers to an instance model simply as the model of some metamodel. In this way, a model of a meta-
metamodel
is
a
metamodel
or, strictly speaking, an instance model of the meta-metamodel. Generally, we distinguish between
descriptive and prescriptive models, where the former describe an existing system and the latter
specify what a system should look like; hence, it is also referred to as a specification model. This
distinction leads to different notions of correctness. A descriptive model is correct if all the reified
concepts
correspond to actual observation of the existing system. In contrast, the system is deemed correct if it
implements all the concepts found in the prescriptive model. Stated differently, the system is correct
if it satisfies the specification defined by the prescriptive model. In the remainder of this dissertation,
we
will
assume that all models are prescriptive models. Model-Driven Architecture In 2001, the Object
Management Group2 (OMG) proposed the Model-Driven Architec- ture (MDA) as a standardized
architecture
for
MDD. Central to the MDA perspective is the separation of the model based implementation into a
platform independent and a platform specific model. The ratio behind this separation is that platform
independent models (PIM) is platform agnostic and does not change if the underlying, anticipated
platform that provides the run-time environment for the system under development is exchanged in
favor of another. Instead, the PIM is parameterized and translated into platform specific model
(PSM) with a set of model transformations. The executable system is then generated from the PSM

detecting
blood
as
you
can
see
in
the
pictures presented above most of the pictures is dominated with the color red. This makes it difficult
to
easily
differentiate between what is blood and what is human tissue. To detect blood we are using a couple
of
conditions
as
a
filter to find the bloody parts within a frame. The first set of conditions is to set a range on the RGB
values since blood will always be red. Everything else like fat, bandages, operation tools, etc. will
have
to
be
excluded from the frame. For this we give a wide range to the red color channel, a very limited
range for the blue en green color channels. The second part of conditions is to work with a ratio
between
two
different
color channels. This is based on a project with a capsule endoscopy [5]. This is to first divide the
green channel by the red one and do the same for the blue channel and divide it by the red one. After
that
you
combine
the
results
and
only
take
in
account the pixels where both values are below 0.6. For that project it was a good number but in the
abdominal cavity there is a lot more red present then in the intestine we lowered the values and
looked for the best results. If the following conditions are met we consider it to be blood 0.1 < (B/R)
< 0.4 0.1 < (G/R) < 0.4 40 < R < 255 B < 20 G < 20 Table 4: Results blood detection success 21 Still

11. Ubuntu It is arguably the most user-friendly version of Linux out there. Ubuntu's whole
philosophy is based around making it easier for the user, hiding any unnecessary complexity behind
the scenes. This makes it perfect for users not accustomed to Linux. In terms of our project the
people operating this application will have a low learning curve to get around the operating system,
while it still allows developers to have the full access of the Linux power house hidden behind the
scenes. It releases a stable update of it's operating system every 6 months and a long term support
edition every two years. The long term support will provide security updates, bug fixes and platform
stability updates for 5 years. Canonical the company behind Ubuntu is also investing in different
markets as the mobile phone. Giving the reason that this operating system will stand for a long time.
The stability and prospect of a long continuation of the operating system makes it an excellent choice
as the platform operating system. 10 Figure 6: Ubuntu User Interface 33. The maximum sustainable
heat flux in stably stratified channel flows 29 side becomes zero. If we use the definition of u∗ext to
normalize (2.16) we obtain: ∂ ∂z/h ( τ/ρ u2 ∗ext ) = −1. (2.17) In the following we will ignore
viscous contributions. At t/t∗ = 25 the sys- tem seems to have reached a steady state. Interestingly,
also at t/t∗ = 5 this 45 degrees slope appears to be present in the lower half of the domain. This
aspect is in accordance with the steadiness of the aforementioned velocity profiles and supports the
existence of a surface-coupled, pseudo-steady state in the lower domain. The grey dashed line is an
idealized fit by eye. In the upper domain, the slope of the stress profile is much less. This finding
sup- ports the existence of a (decoupled) layer with much weaker turbulence. The analysis above for
h/Lext = 0.3 was repeated for many ’subcritical’ cases and indicated similar behaviour with respect to
the existence of a distinct pseudo- steady state when TKE reaches its minimum (not shown), in
accordance with VDW12a. On the other hand, it is also clear that the pseudo-steady state is only an
idealized concept. In Figures 2.6 and 2.7, for example, the layer be- tween 0.5 < z/h < 0.8 acts as a
transitional region between the coupled and the decoupled regions. In this region the slope of the
stress profile is neither close to 45 degrees, nor negligible. Nevertheless, the aforementioned con-
cept appears useful as an approximation for further analysis. Note that, from an atmospheric
perspective an interesting result has been obtained by Banta [2008] from analysis of doppler-lidar
data, it showed that similar regions of coupled-decoupled layers are found in the atmosphere during
nighttime. 2.4.3 A simplified analysis In section 2, three assumptions for the simplified analysis were
listed. The first condition (the heat extraction H0 at the surface is fixed) is fulfilled by the
configuration set-up. The third condition, i.e. the validity of Monin-Obukhov similarity, is not
obvious. Here, the analysis is restricted to the layer close to the surface. As the Monin-Obukhov
similarity is an asymptotic solution of the local scaling equations for z → 0, effects of flux
divergence are expected to be limited close to the surface (section 4). The second condition is that
the wind speed should attain a fixed, prescribed value at a specified height. It is clear that in
pressure-driven flows, such a condition cannot be valid in general. In particular, weakening of
turbulence naturally invokes flow ac- Is it possible to have two logos side by side on the cover page
