Topic: Geometrical shapes
Introducing the topic: BRAINSTORMING
Write SHAPES on the board and students
come to the board and write their ideas about the topic
Teacher draws the shapes on the board and writes the
names of the shapes; students copy the shapes and write
the words; teacher reads the shapes form the board and
students repeat;
Triangle, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon, octagon
Sts play a game (they will need to move around the
classroom); tell the students that they will play a game,
but that they can’t speak; they will listen to a song and
walk around the classroom; the teacher stops the music
and names one of the shapes; students have to form a
circle consisting of the same number of students as the
shape that the teacher names. The students who don’t
form a circle have to sit down; (activity will require a lot
of discipline, since it is very energetic; also it can be
done in stages, where all the students are divided in two
groups and one group plays while the other monitors
whether they form the correct circles);
Group work:
Students are placed in 5 groups; each group gets a card with an
instruction what to do; while they get prepared to carry out the
instruction from the card, teacher puts 5 papers with 5 different
shapes in 5 different places in the classroom;
Teacher explains that they need to agree on the student who will
carry out the instruction; give students 3-4 minutes to work in groups;
then, each group sends their member to carry out the instruction;
Teacher walks from shape to shape and checks what the students did;
