Review of Related Literature

Grade 10 students preferences regarding choosing the senior high school strand is
also way to prepare students for college. According to (Magdadaro 2020). Having an ideal
strand can be helpful and inspiring but it can’t give one an assurance of one’s chosen
career in the future. Choosing a senior high school strand is one of the most challenging
decisions that junior high school students will have to face. It is greatly important because
the strand they choose will serve as their training ground before entering college (Bandilla &
Dioso 2023). The choice they make will determine their future academic and professional
careers, and it is a decision that cannot be taken lightly (Kilag,Dejino,Arcillo,Borong,
Manligoy & Combista 2023).

Grade 10 students to make informed choices regarding their preferred SHS track for
the students to be aware of the importance of choosing a track that suits their interest,
while at the same time matches the available resources as well as job opportunities that
await them (Royo & Lamela 2021). In choosing a career, suitability to the interest of the
students is given importance. Students must know on what degree to pursue in college,
one that interest them and must also fit their abilities so that it will not be hard for them to
choose the right career path (Penedilla & Rosaldo 2017).

 It is generally presumed that individuals will enter into careers that would bring
them Lifelong satisfaction after a long period of schooling.(Sarah 2019). Some students
know exactly which course to pursue while others do not know (Kaneez & Medha, 2018).
Career choice has become a complex science with the advent of information technology,
the emergence of post industrial revolution and job competition (Edwards Quinter 2011).
As students try to make career choice, They face problems of matching their career
choices with their personalities, attitudes, abilities and academic performance (Verma &
Bakshi 2017). Higher education plays an important role in the socio-economic
development of a country (Siddiky & Akter 2021).
