INTRODUCTION
Nicomedes "Nick" Marquez Joaquin was a Filipino writer
and journalist best known for his short stories and novels
in the English language. He also wrote using the pen
name Quijano de Manila. Joaquin was conferred the rank
and title of National Artist of the Philippines for
Literature.
He specialized in surrealism and magic realism, often
depicting dreamlike landscapes and fantastical imagery in
his paintings. Aquino's works are characterized by vibrant
colors, intricate details, and a sense of mysticism,
reflecting his exploration of Filipino folklore, mythology,
and spirituality.

WERE THE TITLES “THE WOMAN WHO HAD
TWO NAVELS” (1961) AND “LA NAVAL DE
MANILA” (1964).
