It was once believed that the Earth is flat- that there is that place called

Four (4) of most notable Greek philosophers who made a thorough
study on the shape of the Earth were Pythagoras of Samos, Plato,
Aristotle, and Eratosthenes of Cyrene.

Earth is spherical
There are stars that were seen in Egypt and Cyrus that is not
visible in the northern region.
In summary the earth was once believed to be flat until the study of the
following Greeks. Pythagoras and Plato believed that the Earth is
spherical since sphere is the most perfect shape. Aristotle considered
the position of the stars as well as the shadow of the Earth formed
during lunar eclipse to support the claim that Earth is spherical in shape.
Eratosthenes proved that the Earth is curved by measuring the angle the
sun made with the vertical direction. He was first to calculate the
circumference of the Earth.
