Maglumi Policy
1. POLICY
All Medical Technologists conducting analysis of patient’s sample in the Thyroid Panel and
other Serological Tests shall run Quality Control to detect, reduce, and correct deficiencies in
Serology’s analytical process prior to the release of the patient’s results.
2. PURPOSE
To guide Medical Technologists on how to run quality control prior to running patient’s
samples and releasing results.
3. EQUIPMENT/REAGENTS/SUPPLIES
4. TECHNICAL PROCEDURE
All Medical Technologists shall wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’S) such as
laboratory gown, gloves, mask in running quality control.
TECHNICAL PROCEDURE IN THYROID PANELS AND
OTHER SEROLOGICAL TEST EFFECTIVITY: JULY 2022
4.1.1 Make sure that the analyzer is safe to turn on. Press the power switch at the
side of the analyzer then turn on the computer.
4.1.2 Log in the user software
4.1.3 Check consumables
4.1.4 Confirm device status( check if incubator temperature is stable)
4.1.5 Confirm assay parameters
4.1.6 Scan and load reagents, position it sideways on scanning area, wait for 1 solid
beep.
4.1.7 Load reagent in reagent area
4.1.8 Confirm the remaining test of each assay if it’s enough to complete the test.
4.1.9 Confirm whether the reagent has been calibrated, and perform calibration for
the reagent without valid calibration.
4.3.1 Load sample rack into sample area, click sample reagent then click sample
area to be used
4.3.2 Click control position on the rack
4.3.3 Input control name and lot to run( maybe processed individually or batch of
controls)

5. PRECAUTIONS
5.1 Medical Technologists must always check expiration dates and stability of the controls
and reagents
5.2 Pipettes and test tubes used must be clean and sterile to avoid contamination that can
affect quality control results.
5.3 Medical Technologists should always check reagents, liquid consumables and container
waste.
