There are six classes within the School of Orisa Studies, each with its own
focus. When you enroll in the Amethyst Class, you have access to ALL
educational resources within the School of Orisa Studies. As you move from
Amethyst to Salt of the Earth, you have less access.

When Orunmila's family was feeling
neglected because he spent so much
t i m e a n d e n e r g y w o r k in g i n th e
c o m m u n i t y , h e i n s i s t e d th a t th e y
exercise more patience. As his Ifa
Festival approached, the tension drove
a wedge between Orunmila and his
f a m i l y . O u t o f s p i t e , h e o r g a n i z e d th e
f e s t i v a l w i t h o u t h i s f a m i l y . A t th e
height of the celebration, the Egungun
priests misunderstood Orunmila's
b e h a v i o r a n d a f i g h t b r o k e o u t. T h e y
beat Orunmila violently while his
family stood by and watched.

OPENING THE STOMACH
The sacred text of Ifa is filled with
wisdom that facilitates mental,
emotional and spiritual healing.
Traditionally, once the babalawo has
shared the messages of Ifa, he will
say, "Ifa has opened his stomach for
you. Now, it is time for you to open
your stomach to Ifa.
"Opening one's stomach" is what
African American Christians call
testifying. It is when you share how
the message resonates with you and
speaks to your condition.
Opening your stomach is an integral
part of the healing process.
