MODIFICATIONS

MODIFICATION CLASSIFICATION
MAJOR None
MINOR 159331J4303

NOTE: As per EASA IR 21, a minor change is one that has no appreciable effect on the
mass, balance, structural strength, reliability, operational characteristics affecting the
airworthiness of the product. All other changes are major changes.

NOTE: This modification is related to an airworthiness issue which has been re-classified and
confirmed by EASA as minor in accordance with EU Part 21.A.91. As such, this is
handled by AIRBUS under its Design Organisation Approval No. EASA.21J.031.

REASON/DESCRIPTION/OPERATIONAL CONSEQUENCES

When introducing the A321 Centre Tank Fuel Transfer System onto A319CEO and A320CEO
154327J3527, a ground signal to the fuel level Sensor Control Unit (FLSCU) 1 & 2 that replicates the
centre tank pressure switch was not installed due to an error in the application of the wiring schematics.
This is affecting the IDG cooling logic which potentially can have an impact of the gravity feed ceilings.

This Modification Service Bulletin is published to add a wire connected to ground on FIN’s 9QJ and 7QJ
and associated wiring harness. This Mod is for In-service retrofit only. Forward fit aircraft are covered
by Mod 158740J4302.

This will restore the correct design intent and update the FCOM to increase the gravity feed ceiling.

B. CONCURRENT REQUIREMENTS

None

C. REASON

(1) History

When introducing the A321 Centre Tank Fuel Transfer System onto A319CEO and
A320CEO 154327J3527, a ground signal to the fuel level Sensor Control Unit (FLSCU)
1 & 2 that replicates the centre tank pressure switch was not installed due to an error in
the application of the wiring schematics. This is affecting the IDG cooling logic which
potentially can have an impact of the gravity feed ceilings.

(2) Objective/Action

This Modification Service Bulletin is published to add a wire connected to ground on

FIN’s 9QJ and 7QJ and associated wiring harness. This Mod is for In-service retrofit
only. Forward fit aircraft are covered by Mod 158740J4302.

(3) Advantages

This will restore the correct design intent and update the FCOM to increase the gravity
feed ceiling.

(4) Operational/Maintenance Consequences
