(Humanities and Social Sciences) strand within the K-12 Basic Education Program. This study
was conducted at Saint Francis School of La Libertad in Negros Oriental during the 2019-2020
school year. To gather data, the researchers used a questionnaire, which they personally
distributed and collected from senior high school students to ensure reliable results. Before
distributing the questionnaires, the researchers obtained permission from the school’s director.
Once the questionnaires were completed by the students, the researchers collected them for
analysis.
Data interpretation

Conclusion and recommendations

Study on students’ perceptions of the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand in
the K-12 Basic Education Program revealed that most were over 16 years old, females, and
chose HUMSS due to the lack of other academic tracks and high costs associated with project
and assignment requirements. The researcher suggests teachers should avoid overloading
students with assignments and projects, parents should support their children, and future research
could use this study as a basis.
