August 8, 2pm – 4pm
Organizing and promoting regional scientific events can be very helpful for your
career!
Want to find out more about it? Come and hear what our wonderful speakers
Juana Pasquini, Laura Trebucq and Felipe Campos Ribeiro have to say about it!
Come share your experiences and struggles in relation to this topics. Join the
discussion to highlight the biased and racialised ways of thinking in research and
academia, and to explore solutions to increase the representation and visibility of
individuals across the racial, disability, and gender and sexual diversity spectrum
in neuroscience.
August 9, 2:30pm – 4:30pm
The use of animal models allowed sound progress in the field of neurosciences.
Today, concrete efforts are made in all experimental sciences to reduce and even
replace the use of animal models and researchers and institutions are encouraged
to develop the ability to communicate to society why and how animals are still
employed in scientific research, even when there is no doubt in considering them
as sentient beings.
This symposium aims to give tools to neuroscientists to obtain more benefit from
animal models, while doing less harm and to promote an open dialogue between
scientists and the public.
Join us for a round table exploring academia and industry careers and transitions
between the two, presented from different point of views. Join our amazing
speakers, Dr. Dimitra Mangoura and Prof. Illana Gozes, who will talk about their
personal and professional experience on the topic, to empower young scientists to
make informed decisions!
Join the YSSC as they interview amazing researchers from all over the world and
learn about their career experience, covering topics such as getting a faculty
position, their struggles, the importance of mentorship and the role ISN and/or
other scientific societies played in their careers.
You’ll also get the chance to ask these scientists (Mychael Lourenco, Sara
Xapelli, Anastassia Voronova and Itsuki Ajioka) any question you want!
