F3 Chapter 4: Scale Drawings

1. The distance between two towns is 140 km. On a map with a scale of 1 cm : 40 km, how far
apart would the towns be?

2. The scale of the map is 1 cm: 4 km. Find the distance in km of a road represented by 8.5 cm on
the map.

3. The scale of a map is 5 cm to 4 km. Find the actual distance between two towns which are 12
cm part.

13. By using the scale 1: 750 000, Ahmad drew a map for a journey. If the distance on the map is
1.9 cm, find the actual distance of the journey, in km.

14. Mrs. Ong intends to draw a map to a scale of 1 : 10 000. If the length of the river on the map is
20 cm, find the actual length of the river in km.

15. A map is drawn to a scale of 1 : 200 000. Find the distance of town P-and town Q on the map
if the actual distance of two towns is 30 km.

16. The length of an object is 10 cm on a map and the actual length of the object is 4 mm. Find the
scale used.

17. A plan is drawn using a scale of 1: n. If the length of a room is 8 cm on the plan and the actual
length of the room is 4 m, find the value of n.
