Issues Addressed
• Identify Wind Patterns for the site.
• Identify Wind-Related Hazards for
the site.
Decisions Made
• With winds predominately from the
south, Industrial and Agricultural zoned
spaces would be best suited upwind
from city center in order to provide
better air quality for residents.
• Due to Tornadic activity, FEMA rated
hardened spaces or impact resistant
glazings may be required based
on building type and or occupancy
classifcations

Issues Addressed
Identify any nearby Wind Power
facilities are close to site.
Decisions Made
• Given the proximity of our site to
resiential areas, traditional Wind Farms
are not a viable option for this site.
• Of the (5) wind farms within 100 miles,
(3) existing Wind Farms are within 40
miles to the site which would allow for a
viable solution to the electricity demand
of the city of Hopewell.

Identify Sun Paths and
Applicable Solar Angles for site
Decisions Made
• Due to the lack of large man-made
obstructions to the south of the site,
Solar Power would be a suitable
energy resource for the city.
• The existing trees on the site should
be considered when de-termining
locations for solar array to avoid
shadows. The shadow lengths shown
with the graphics correspond to the
hypothetical top of existing trees.

Primary Site Entry’s
Decisions Made
Commercial Site Entry located off
of Hwy 24
With the majority traffic patterns coming from Hwy 24, this seems
Primary Site Entry Location for Commercial Buildings to be the most apt location for the commercial entry onto the site.
Commercial portion of the program should be located on this side of
the site for numerous reasons. First is allowing the most amount of
Secondary Site Entry Location for Residential Buildings access to the site for its commercial purposes. This also allows the
taller commercial buildings on this portion of the site to allow for a
natural buffer from traffic sound.
Secondary Roads The private residential portion of the site should be accessed on
the south off of Centennial Drive. There is already a pocket of
residential located on this portion of the site. Extending this portion Sheet Content / Focus
