A philosophical approach to education is rooted in the belief that education should be used as a

means of addressing social problems and promoting progressive social change.

It asserts that schools, teachers, and students should take the lead in addressing social problems
and improving society.
Reconstructionism reminds us that critical thinking in education is important and that students
should be encouraged to question and analyze the world around them and to think critically
about social issues and problems such as such as poverty, inequality, discrimination, and racism

Reconstructionists believe that education should be student-centered.

-They believe that students should be encouraged to take an active role in their own learning and
to be engaged in the learning process.

Reconstructionists believe that education should be interdisciplinary and that the

curriculum should be integrated.
-They believe that students should be taught how to make connections between different subject
areas and how to apply their learning to real-world problems.

Reconstructionists believe that education should be closely tied to the community.

-They believe that schools should be involved in the local community and that students should be
encouraged to participate in community service and other forms of civic engagement.

Realism
Pragmatism
This is a good philosophy like the others. Because the knowledge that will be gained here will be
needed constantly, regardless of how peaceful the community or area around you is, no matter
how affluent the country you live in, social issues are here to stay, and this underscores the
significance of studying them.
And this is also the reason why reconstructionism remains a popular and influential approach to
education.
