STEM Fest and Biochemistry Olympiad

Dear Students,

Exciting news awaits you! Mark your calendars for the upcoming STEM Fest on 10th February,
featuring a thrilling Biochemistry Olympiad and a Project Showcase on the same day. Here's your chance
to showcase your talents and win amazing prizes!

STEM Fest Highlights:

1. STEM Fest is exclusively for our students, while the Biochemistry Olympiad is open to
participants from various schools.

2. STEM Fest has two fantastic categories: Project Showcase and Dress as a Scientist. All grades
are eligible for Project Showcase, while Dress as a Scientist is exclusively for Grade 6 students.

3. Project Showcase/Dress as a Scientist Details:

 Form groups of 2 (minimum) or 3 (maximum) for Project Showcase (open to all grades).
 Dress as a Scientist is an individual category for Grade 6 students ONLY.
 Please find a teacher to be your supervisor from the subject you choose to participate
under. They can help you with the project to make and present.
 Submit group names by 14th December, 2023 to your supervisor
 Confirm participation for Dress as a Scientist by that date.
 Physical projects with poster designs are a must for Project Showdown.

4. Judging and Prizes:

 Only a handful of prizes and winners are available per category with honorable mentions.
 Participate and earn up to 20 marks as a class test mark for your subject.

5. Judges and Guests:

 Esteemed judges and exciting guests will be present to see your science in action.

CODE, CREATE, CALCULATE, CONQUER

Evaluation procedure:
Each project exhibition will be evaluated by honorable judges in the following categories: Oral
presentation, practical demonstration and poster presentation. Furthermore, each student will be guided
by his/her respective assigned subject teacher regarding the practical demonstration. However, all pupils
will have same poster presentation the size, ratio and content, details of which are shown below:

EXHIBIT SIZE

o Not to exceed 15 inches (38 cm) deep, front to back; 4 ft (122 cm) wide, side to side; and 5 ft (150
cm) high above the table top.
o Display materials must fit on the table in front of your board. This space is approx. 15″ x 24″.

o Display boards of 3-4 ft height (vs. 5 ft) are recommended for readability by the judges.

TEXT

o Use size 24-point or larger font.

o Position your main points at eye level.

REFERENCES

o References (Bibliography) are required on the display board.

o If the bibliography is very long, include “Selected References” on the board and have available copies
of the list complete.
