STEP 3 - SHARING THE GOSPEL - CHAPTER 19

SHARING THE GOSPEL USING THE ROMANS ROAD SUCCESSFULLY

EXPLAINING HOW TO RECEIVE CHRIST: THE SOUL WINNER'S MESSAGE:
Romans: 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:9-10, 10:13, as in the top picture.
That is the Gospel Message in 6 Bible verses. They are exciting, straightforward, simple,
and by the Holy Spirit, overpowering. Please read Jeremiah 23:29 (Amplified AMP.)

Regardless of how sincere and genuine they may be, non-Christians cannot be saved if
they do not know specific facts about Christ and themselves. The lost must know certain
things to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Cornelius, a very religious man in Acts
10, was devout and deeply theological. However, he was still lost (Acts 11:14). He was
lost because he was without knowledge of convincing facts about the Gospel message.
Romans 10:17 says, "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the
message is heard through the word about Christ."

ROMAN ROAD TO HEAVEN - Key Facts

At the time of the Roman Empire, the Roman Road was massive, including Europe, some
of Africa, and parts of Asia. Almost the entire established world connected this enormous
length of paved roads (50,000 miles or 80,000 km of large stones) to the Roman
Empire. Supposedly, a person could travel from Greece to Spain without stepping off the
road. At that time, it was said, "All roads lead to Rome."

The Romans Road is the most used method for presenting the Salvation plan and
probably the best known. There is a Romans Road that leads to Heaven clearly marked
in the Book of Romans located in the New Testament of your Bible. I recommend using
an outline to stay on track and being open to the Holy Spirit guiding you to relevant
verses for the occasion.

METHOD 1: THE ROMANS ROAD THE EASIEST METHOD – 1 Page

1. Start by telling your story, your personal testimony of how you met Christ.

2. Ask, "Has anything like that ever happened to you?"

3. Highlight using a highlight marker or underline the Bible verses (listed below) in your
Bible. These will help you deliver the Gospel message effectively. We would recommend
that you start by highlighting Romans 3:23.

Romans 3:23 - Man's Need. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
In the margin of your Bible, have the next verse, Romans 6:23, highlighted, and so on.

Romans 6:23 - Sin's Penalty. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
(Highlight in the margin Romans 5:8.)

Romans 5:8 - God's Provision. "But God demonstrates his own love toward us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
(Highlight in the margin Romans 10:9-10.)

Romans 10:9-10 - Man's Response. "If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord,"
and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is
with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you
profess your faith and are saved."
Romans 10:13 - God's Response. "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will
be saved."

Meet people for coffee at a coffee shop or park, or invite them to your home for a visit.
Spending time with them shows that you care and your interest is genuine.

If possible, give them a Bible or a New Testament Bible. Ask them to begin reading the
Gospel of John in the New Testament. We recommend a New International Version (NIV)
devotional Bible for those searching. Try getting together for a Bible study on the Book
of John. I recommend using our five or 15-minute study guides. Invite them to talk to
you more about the Gospel at a later time when they are ready. Download PDFs below.

METHOD 2: ROMANS ROAD A

SIMPLE METHOD – (2 Pages)
SAME AS METHOD 1 BUT WITH
MORE DETAILS.

Please memorize this verse:

"But you will receive power when the
Holy Spirit comes on you; and you
will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in
all Judea and Samaria, and to the
ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8).

Jesus gives His disciples these necessary marching orders before returning to the Father
after His resurrection. Their primary purpose in life was to tell others about Him: inform
others of what they had heard, seen, and learned from Jesus. We have the exact
charges today. Today, we'll study how to share the Gospel with people using the
Romans Road Method #2. Learning a few down-to-earth established ways will be
beneficial in fulfilling your mission to share the Gospel message.

There are five verses we will read, understand, discuss, and focus on today. To begin,
open your Bible to the first blank page, and inside the front cover, write "Romans 3:23"
with a pen. This is the first verse we will use for the Romans Road method #2. Writing
this text in front of your Bible empowers you to be immediately ready to start the
Romans Road when needed. Now open your Bible to Romans 3:23. For each of the other
four other verses in the Romans Road method, we will do three things:

 In your Bible, highlight the verse using a colored marker so it's easy to find.
(I would recommend picking one color for Salvation verses.)
 Suggest underlining a keyword or two to guide and emphasize your discussion.
 Next to that verse in the Bible, you can write down the following verse reference.

An easy way for new Christians to share the Gospel is to use these five
Scriptures in the Romans Road Method:

1. Romans 3:23 - Underline the word "sinned" and highlight this verse in your Bible.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." We have all sinned and done
offensive and displeasing things to God. No one is innocent.

MAN'S NEED – "ALL HAVE SINNED"

Next, put in the Bible margin, write "ROMANS 6:23."

2. Romans 6:23 - Underline the words "wages" and "gift" and highlight this verse in
your Bible.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

The punishment (wages) that we deserve for our sins is death. Not just physical death
but everlasting separation from God. But God gives us the free gift of eternal life
through Jesus.

SIN'S PENALTY – "WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH."

Next, put in the Bible margin, write "ROMANS 5:8."

3. Romans 5:8 - Underline the words "Christ died for us" and highlight this verse in
your Bible.

"But God demonstrates his own love toward us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ
died for us."

Jesus's death on the cross paid the price for our sins. Jesus Christ died for us!

GOD'S PROVISION – "CHRIST DIED FOR US."

Next, put in the Bible margin, write "ROMANS 10:9-10."

4. Romans 10:9-10 - Underline the words "declare," "Jesus is Lord," "believe," "you
will be saved," "heart," and "mouth," and highlight these two verses in your Bible.

"If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God
raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe
and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."

MAN'S RESPONSE – "JESUS IS LORD…BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART…YOU WILL BE SAVED."

Next, put in the Bible margin, write "Romans 10:13."

5. Romans 10:13 - Underline the words "Everyone," "calls," "name of the Lord," and
"will be saved," and highlight the verse in your Bible.

"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

GOD'S RESPONSE – "Everyone Who Calls On The Name Of The Lord will be Saved."

Salvation and the forgiveness of sins are available to anyone who trusts Christ as their
Lord and Savior. To be saved, we must confess our sins, acknowledge our belief in Him,
and be willing to surrender control of our lives to God, as in our Salvation Sharing Cards.

Next, you can write in the Bible margin, "Pray."

Next, start your closing remarks. (Give some thought to it beforehand on what to say.)

When you are finished sharing the Gospel with someone using Method 2, say,
"Would you (their name) like to follow the Romans Road to Salvation? If so, here is a
Salvation prayer you can pray to God. By saying this prayer below, you declare to God
that you rely on and trust Jesus Christ for your Salvation. The words will not save you.
Only faith and trust in Jesus can provide Salvation!"

SALVATION PRAYER
"God, I know I have sinned against you
and deserve Your punishment. But Jesus
Christ bore the punishment for me that I
deserved so that through faith in Him, I
can be forgiven.

With Your help and guidance, I place my

trust and dependence on You for Salvation.
Thank You for Your incredible forgiveness
and Grace, the amazing gift of eternal life!
Amen!"

This week, practice applying the Romans Road by highlighting five verses in your
favorite Bible or New Testament Bible. You don't need a large Bible, as it can be
intimidating to a non-believer. We offer handy cue cards that are easy to carry and use
for sharing the Gospel. You can download and print the diagram above and cut out any
of our 6 to 8 individual Salvation-Prayer cards above to spread the "Good News."

METHOD 2 CONTINUED BELOW

METHOD 2 CONTINUED - THE ROMANS ROAD TO SALVATION 3 - INDEX CARDS.

All five verses, the Salvation message, and the Salvation Prayer. (As above diagram.)

We highly recommend you print or write out this index card with the Salvation verses,
Salvation outline, and the Salvation Prayer on one index card here. This will make 3
complete copies of the above diagram on how to share the Gospel message.

Cut out all three and tape each in places you will see on a bathroom mirror, vehicle,
wallet/purse, or person. While walking or during downtime, go over it until you can say
it without the card, or use the index card to keep you on track while presenting.

When you are finished sharing, you can give it to the person to read.
Recommend watching this 4-minute video of the Romans Road to Salvation.
METHOD 3: THE ROMANS ROAD
STEPS 1 TO 9 - (2 Pages)
STEP ONE: What God thinks of
fallen man's sinful state:
Romans 3:10: "As it is written:
There is no one righteous, not even
one."

STEP TWO: We are all sinners by

nature and by choice:
Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned
and fall short of the glory of God."

STEP THREE: By one man's sin, sin

entered the world, which resulted in death:
Romans 5:12: "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man and death
through sin, and in this way death came to all people because all sinned . . ."

STEP FOUR: We receive eternal life as a free gift:

Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord."

STEP FIVE: God demonstrated His love for us and His enemies:
Romans 5:8-9: "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still
sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much
more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!"

STEP SIX: We must trust and surrender to Jesus as Lord:

Romans 10:9-10: "If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that
you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and
are saved."

STEP SEVEN: Our assurance of Salvation through Jesus:

Romans 10:13: "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

STEP EIGHT: Place your Faith in Jesus Christ:

SUMMARY OF THE ABOVE 8 STEPS

1. RECOGNIZE that everyone has sinned and falls short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23.
2. KNOW the wages or payment for sinning is death. Romans 6:23.
3. GOD LOVED YOU so much that He sent His only Son to die for us. Romans 5:8-9.
4. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and allow Him to
become the master of your life. Romans 10:13.
STEP NINE: A Prayer to Invite Jesus Christ into Your Heart and Life
"Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner, and my sin deserves to be punished. I believe
Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for me and rose from the grave. I want to turn
(repent) from my sin and trust Jesus Christ alone as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for
your forgiveness and for giving me everlasting life. I now put my faith and trust in
Jesus. Thank You in Jesus' name, Amen."

Faith has the courage to let God have control. If you have believed in your heart and
confessed with your mouth that He is Lord, as God requires, you are now saved!

METHOD 4: THE ROMANS ROAD to

SALVATION - TRADITIONAL METHOD
… is a roadway you can walk. It is an
assortment of New Testament Bible verses
from the Book of Romans.

Walking down this path will give you

insight into how to be saved.

Admit That You Are A Sinner.

Romans 3:10: As it is written: "There is no
one righteous, not even one;"

Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Romans 5:12: "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man and death
through sin, and in this way death came to all people because all sinned."

Sin Has An Ending ... It Results In Death.

Romans 6:23a: "For the wages of sin is death,"
We all owe this wage of spiritual death.

Realize That God Loves You!

Romans 5:8: "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still
sinners, Christ died for us." When Jesus died on the cross, He paid sin's penalty.
Salvation Is A Free Gift From God To You!
Romans 6:23b: "... but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
You can't earn this gift. You need to ask to receive God's gift of Jesus dying for our sins.

You Must Ask God To Forgive You And Save You.

Romans 10:9-10: "If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that
you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and
are saved."

Like Any Gift, It Must Be Received!

Romans 10:13: for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

A Prayer To Receive Christ!

Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus
died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins and ask Jesus Christ to come into my heart
and life as my personal Savior. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. Amen.

METHOD 5: THE ROMANS ROAD TO

SALVATION (DETAILED METHOD 2 Pages)

What does the Roman Road bring us?

Well, the good news of Jesus Christ, of course!
What is the "Good News," you might ask?

For that, we can travel "The Romans Road," with

a quick stroll through some key passages in the
book of Romans in the Holy Bible. Many people
memorize and use the Romans Road when
sharing the Gospel.

The Romans Road clearly defines:

1. Who needs Salvation.
2. Why we need Salvation.
3. How God provides Salvation.
4. How we receive Salvation.
5. The results of Salvation.

1. Everyone needs Salvation because we have all sinned.

Romans 3:10-11. As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no
one who understands; there is no one who seeks God."
Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
2. The price (or consequence) of sin is death.
Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord."

3. Jesus Christ died for our sins. He paid the price for our sins.
Romans 5:8: "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still
sinners, Christ died for us."

4. We receive Salvation and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:9-10: "If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that
you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and
are saved."

Romans 10:13: "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

5. Salvation through Jesus Christ brings us into a relationship of peace with

God. (Romans 8:38-39)
Romans 5:1: "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with
God through our Lord Jesus Christ,"
Romans 8:1: "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ
Jesus."

Responding to Romans Road:

If you believe Romans Road leads to the path of truth, you can respond by receiving
God's free gift of Salvation today. Here's how to take a personal journey down Romans
Road. Follow these steps by praying out loud to God what you believe in your heart
using this:

OUTLINE OF A PRAYER TO RECEIVE CHRIST - Every Christian should know by heart.

1. Admit you are a sinner. Understand that as a sinner, you deserve death.

2. Repent (turn from your sins) by turning from your old life of sin to a new life in
Christ.

3. Believe Jesus Christ died on the cross to save you from sin and death.

4. Confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is the master of your life and your God
forever.

5. Receive His free gift of Salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

If you have believed in your heart and confessed with your mouth as God requires, you
are now saved. We would love to hear from you here.
Or, if you have any questions or need help on your journey as a new Christian, go here.

SUMMARY OF OTHER ROMANS ROAD METHODS 6 TO 9

METHOD 6: SIMPLE PRESENTATION

First, start at Romans 3:10: As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one;"

Underline this verse and, in the margin, write, "The Road to Heaven Starts Here." Then,
in the margin, write "Romans 3:23."

Now turn to Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Again, in the margin, write "Romans 5:12."

Now turn to Romans 5:12: "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man
and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people because all sinned."

Along the side of that verse, write, "Romans 5:8:" "But God demonstrates his own love
toward us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Underline verse 8. Beside it, write "Romans 10:9-10; 13."

Now read these verses:

"If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God
raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe
and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
(Romans 10:9-10)

"For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13)

METHOD 7: THE ROMANS ROAD MAP

You can follow this scriptural road map to Heaven. You can use this Romans Road map
to share and lead others to Heaven.

 The Bible says that all have sinned in Romans 3:10 and Romans 3:23. It is our
universal problem; all have sinned.
 The price of sin is death and separation from God, as found in Romans 5:12 and
Romans 6:23.
 Jesus paid the price for our sins, as found in Romans 5:8. God provided a way for
our sins to be forgiven and never to be held against us any longer.
 We personally accept and receive forgiveness and Salvation through faith in Jesus
Christ: Romans 10:9-10,13.
 Are you now willing and prepared to ask God to forgive you of your sins? Are you
ready to accept Jesus as your Savior, who paid the price for your sins?
 If so, then please pray this prayer or one similar:
Dear God, I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross, rose again, and became my
Savior. Lord, I ask you to forgive me for my sins and come into my heart right
now. Take me and make me a vessel that you want me to be. In Jesus' name,
Amen.

The Bible teaches if you die in your sins, you will go to hell. But if you confess, turn from
your sins, and accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, Jesus gives you the free gift
of eternal life. Salvation gives us peace with God: Romans 5:1, Romans 8:1, Romans
8:38-39.

ROMANS ROAD METHODS 6 TO 9 PDF - King James Version (KJV) (5 Pages.)

METHOD 8: THE ROMANS ROAD
I encourage you to memorize verses from the book of Romans to help you present the
gospel message. Or mark in your Bible margin 1 to 7 scripture verses for easy
reference.

1. Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…."

2. Romans 5:8: "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still
sinners, Christ died for us."

3. Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in
Christ Jesus our Lord."

4. Romans 8:1: "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ
Jesus."

5. Romans 10:9: "If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

6. Romans 10:10: "For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is
with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."

7. Romans 10:13: "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

If possible, have the other person read the Bible verses for themselves. Ask them to tell
you what each verse means to them. This is more effective than saying a lot of detail to
them.

If the person is ready to respond to the Gospel presentation, re-read Romans 10:9-10
and ask them to confess their sin and put their trust and faith in Christ through prayer.

The prayer is simply an expression of their faith in their hearts. Encourage them to talk
to God in their own words. Or have a prayer similar to the one below.
(Please write this below the sinner's prayer in the front or back of your Bible.)

Dear God,
Dear God, I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross, rose again, and became my Savior.
Lord, I ask you to forgive me for my sins and come into my heart right now. Take me
and make me a vessel that you want me to be. In Jesus' name, Amen.

METHOD 9: THE ROMANS ROAD
PLUS OTHER VERSES
Please use our premade index cards as in the
left diagram.

How To Receive Christ As Lord And

Savior.

In Romans 1:15, Paul says, "That is why I

am so eager to preach the gospel also to you
who are in Rome."

We have to be ready to preach the Gospel in a way that will answer people's life
questions with scriptural answers.

This will require you to spend time MEMORIZING BIBLE VERSES on Salvation and
studying how to present the passages and answer people's spiritual questions.

Study and memorize the plan of Salvation in a seven-point outline form. Please know by
heart or mark in your Bible, or use our 6-cue cards with the verses written on them.

All sinners - Romans 3:23.

Result - death - Romans 6:23.

Heaven perfect - Revelation 21:27.

Cannot earn - Ephesians 2:8-9.

Christ paid, and He gives righteousness -

2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 3:9.

Only believe - John 3:16.

Know you have eternal life - I John 5:13.

This is one of the best methods of memorizing the scripture references with just a few
words to keep you on point using this 7-point index card (Makes 6 cards.) This will be
exceedingly valuable when you witness to others, not that you will quote it precisely as
you share. But in your mind, you will be free to start with the Gospel even when you are
tongue-tied for not knowing what to say or nervous.

IMPORTANT
In business, memorizing the main points of what one wants to cover has been a
successful method where person-to-person contact is required in any sales pitch. Soul-
winners should use any scriptural techniques that work in their witnessing.

Always start with a quiet prayer, trusting the Holy Spirit to work and leaving the results
with God.

method above are from the New International Version (NIV.) All PDFs above are in the
New International Version (NIV) and the King James Version (KJV.) The only exception is
Method 7, the Romans Road Tract, made into a booklet to give away in the New Living
Translation (NLT.)

SUMMARY

All 9 Methods above are simple methods to share the Gospel with family, friends, and
strangers. Please pick one or two that work best for you.

I recommend keeping copies of a few of the above-premade cue card methods in your
wallet, purse, or Bible when sharing the Gospel. Or you can write the above on paper or
a 3 X 5 card to make sharing the Gospel message easier. It is an excellent tool for those
new to mature Christians in sharing their faith, and it also keeps you on track on how to
communicate without getting sidetracked.

IMPORTANT TO PICK ONE AND SEE HOW THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL USE YOU.
You may not be perfect, but who is? You will make mistakes just like everyone else. That
is OKAY. But remember and memorize this verse in Zechariah 4:6: "So he said to me,
"This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my
Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty."

I have heard it said we should have more modern methods to present the Gospel. After
making these 11 Romans Road Method study guides over a couple of months, I would
strongly disagree. We hear of excellent results worldwide using the Romans Road
method to share the Gospel. One brand new pastor in Kenya had two men come to the
Lord using the Romans Road in one day and had ten people water baptized the following
weekend. The Roman Road methods are as modern as they get, explaining
man's/woman's position and God's position.

I would recommend watching this 4-minute video of the Romans Road to Salvation.

IN A NUTSHELL
The Romans Road Method of sharing the Gospel is a simple and effective way to
explain the message of Salvation. It consists of verses from the Book of Romans that
outline the basic principles of sin, redemption, Salvation, and faith in Jesus Christ.

The first step is acknowledging that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of
God.

The second step is recognizing that the penalty for sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ.

The third step is confessing our sins and believing in our hearts that Jesus is the Lord
and that God raised him from the dead.

Finally, we are called to publicly profess our faith and live a life that reflects our
commitment to Christ. This method is a powerful tool for sharing the message of hope
and love with others.

While the Romans Road is a valuable tool for sharing the Gospel, it is essential to
remember that evangelism is not just about delivering a message. Building relationships
with people and showing genuine love and care are equally important in effectively
sharing the Gospel.

In the next few days, we will look at different approaches to sharing the Gospel
message, using quick sharing methods, in-depth techniques, asking questions, visual
demonstrations of the Gospel, and creative and successful strategies for sharing the
Gospel in any situation.
