"My reaction paper in Biyaheng EDSA” by Howie Severino"

The video entitled “Biyaheng EDSA” shows the significance of our culture especially in communication
because as Howie Severino discussed on how People Power I succeed.

In People Power Revolution 1 on February 23,1986, 2 million of Filipinos gathered 4 days along Epifanio
Delos Santos Avenue or commonly known as EDSA to restore democracy to the Philippines. But as
Howie Severino’s start his documentary, he said that “Bago pa naging Rebolusyon, Highway lamang ang
EDSA” because in 1958 it is called as Highway 54.

In 2006, Howie Severino and his I-Witness team walked along the length of EDSA to see what they might
learn about how Filipinos have manage in the 20 years sine the People Power Revolution happen.

The Documentary starts at Monument Circle in Caloocan and he asks different people how to go to
EDSA by walking without transportation.

And at Balintawak where the Katipunan’s cry of revolt in 1986, he satirizes our concept of freedom by
attaching it to our “freedom” to do unscrupulous deeds like hurting others.

When Howie arrived to the Muñoz, he zooms the SM City North Edsa which is the first mall in the
Philippines that touches the outstanding mall culture in the country.

So I admire this documentary “Biyaheng Edsa” not only because of its story telling but it also shows the
significance to our culture and he also discussed on how revolution succeeded because even in the past,
communication is the way of 2 million Filipinos to won without hurting others. So we should keep
spreading the right communication to avoid misunderstanding and breakouts.

Lastly, after watching the video, I am now a fan of Howie Severino for his documentary.
