Awareness of Parental Expectations

Parents' awareness of children's learning refers to a sub-component of parent's understanding

of children's development processes. Relative to other aspects of a parent's role in their child's
academic achievement there has been very little evidence available on parent awareness
around academic competencies (Sonnenschein et al., 2014). Understanding the links and gaps
in knowledge of academic capacity and tasks can inform parental involvement. Research from
around the world indicates that "talking with parents about their children's academic
performance improves learning." Parental involvement in their children's education, according
to the Centre for Child Well-Being (2010), not only boosts a child's self-esteem, attitude, and
academic achievement across all subject areas, but it also encourages better conduct and social
adjustment.

Parents' academic expectations

Parents' academic expectations refers to drive children's behavior and promote their success in
school and life (Wang, 2015). The expectation effect theory states that human expectations are
a modifiable psychological state that both impacts and encourages the behaviors of others
(Rosenthal and Jacobson, 1968). According to the ecological systems theory, parents have a big
impact on their children's development since personal growth is nested in a series of
environmental systems that influence each other (Guy-Evans, 2020). According to Cerasoli and
Ford (2014), nearly all researchers think that mastery goal orientation improves individual
cognition, motivation, self-reflection, deep learning, perseverance, and performance.
