Dear Daingerfield Resident
Dear Daingerfield Resident
It is on the ballot for the City to start funding the Daingerfield Economic Development
Corporation with local sales taxes. If Proposition M passes, tax money that was going to
property tax relief would start going to the EDC.
For a $100,000 home, property taxes would have to go up by $80 per year to make up the
difference. This will affect Daingerfield businesses as well. For example, O’Reilly Auto Parts paid
$4,684 in property tax to the City. If Prop M passes, that would go up an additional $774.
Brookshires’ city property taxes would need to increase by $4,060. Tractor Supply’s would
increase by an additional $2,020. The credit union’s taxes would increase by $1,075.
Prop M has serious implications for the City budget and taxes. Simply put, if the City funds the
EDC with $110,000 a year, the local taxpayers will have to pay for it.
