SAMPLING

1- Dimensional Sampling: It is an extension of quota sampling where the researcher takes into
account several characteristics such as gender, residence, education, etc. and ensures that there
is at least one individualin the study representing each of the chosen characteristics.

2- A college principal conduct an ethnographic probe into the problems faced by tribal students.
Which method of sampling will be most appropriate?

a. Random sampling
b. Stratified sampling
c. Cluster sampling
d. Systematic sampling

Cluster Sampling: In this sampling method, the population is divided into arous that have
heterogeneous characteristics also known as clusters. The cluster represents the population and
the sample is chosen randomly from the cluster. This type of sampling method is heterogeneous
within and homogeneous between the groups.
The tribal communities are linguistically heterogeneous in their mother tongue owing to the
diverse number of tribal communities present in the country.

3- Which of the following sampling procedures will be appropriate for conducting researches with
empirico-inductive research paradigm?
a. Simple random sampling
b. Systematic
c. Stratified
d. Any of the non probability sampling method
Empirico-inductive Approach/Paradigm:• In this paradigm, the researcher collects initial
observations and consequently derive a theory that explains those observations. This process
can lead to a revision of an old theory or the construction of a new one.
• It begins with a social problem and attempts empirically to induce concepts and causal
theories as the study progresses.
• It involves the search for patterns from observation and the development of
explanations, theories for those patterns through a series of hypotheses.
• In other words, they move from data to theory or from the specific to the general. This
type of research approach has been termed as the "grounded theory" approach!
• It is based on the assumption that the investigator wants to discover, understand and
gain insight and therefore must select sample from which the most must be learned
non probability sampling methods.

4- Snowbali sampling:
 Snowball sampling is also known as network, chain referral, or reputation samplina
method.
 Snowball sampling which is a non-probability sampling method is basically
sociometric.
 The snowball sampling method is purely based on referrals, which is how a
researcher can generate a sample.
 Therefore this method is also called the chain-referral sampling method.
