Summary Response Essay of “Why you should vaccinate your 5-to-11-year-old”

The article “Why you should vaccinate your 5-to-11-year-old” written by Sean T.
O’Leary and Yvonne A. Maldonado adapted from CNN, tell us that The US Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has
already made a final decision to vaccinate 5-to-11-years-old children. Not only adults, but
children also suffered through the pandemic. The delta variant is also risky for unvaccinated
children. So far, we have seen so many children who got infected from Covid-19 and
hospitalized. Therefore, many children under 12 years old have had no opportunity to get
vaccinated and many of them are in schools with a small spaces. I had the same opinion with
this article. I agree that children 5-to-11-years-old must be vaccinated to protect their selves
because they already attend school and it has small mitigation measures in place, and protect
them from Covid-19 and other complications.
This article says that vaccines will protect children from infection, related
complications, and children that live in homes with vulnerable caregivers. I agree with this
statement. Therefore, children are vulnerable to getting infected and the vaccine will protect
them. Covid-19 is the top 10 causes of childhood deaths in the United States. From the
American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Hospital Association, in the US Children
represent about 16% of Covid-19 cases, recently rising to 24%. Then, according to the FDA,
the vaccine will be 90,7% effective in preventing Covid-19 in children and the cases will get
fewer.
“Being fully vaccinated means that if a child is exposed to someone with Covid-19,
they don’t have to quarantine.” This statement from the article tells us that if children meet a
person that got infected they don’t have to self-quarantine and still can go to school. I don’t
agree with this statement. However, we need preventive action to protect the children, I think
they should be self-quarantined despite the absenteeism from school. They need to think
about the children's health first, vaccinated doesn’t mean children are immune from the
Covid-19 but the vaccine only makes us stronger than the unvaccinated ones. For instance,
some people already get fully vaccinated but still got infected, the recovery is faster and there
were no serious related complications. Refutation sama contohnya kurang
On the other side, many parents ask about the risk of vaccination and there are no
serious side effects based on safety data from clinical trials data reviewed by the FDA. From
the research, we know that the FDA reviewed more than 4.600 children in the age 5-to-11-
years-old, and they were monitored for side effects for at least 2 months after the second
dose, the side effects were generally mild to moderate and had no serious side effects.
As we know, Covid-19 gives us bad effects and many death cases. To prevent them,
we must get vaccinated, children from 5-to-11-years-old also can get vaccinated and had no
serious side effects. There are a lot of benefits we got from the vaccination, specifically for
children. Children can go to school peacefully and get protected from infections because
according to the FDA, the vaccine is 90.7% effective in preventing Covid-19. But, remember
that vaccine doesn’t mean we are immune from the Covid-19, we must stay hygiene and wear
a mask everywhere we go.
