How is a COMOS version identified?
Each COMOS version is identified by its version number. The COMOS version number
represents the COMOS software product. This number is used to manage changes to the
product features and functions available with the product. This includes new features,
functions, bug fixes, etc. The COMOS version number appears on the software start screen,
Information screen and DVD browser. It is also the name of the GTAC web download file.

What is the format of a COMOS version number?

The COMOS version number has the following format:

Example of the version number

Both a Major Version and a Minor Version are new versions of the COMOS software and are
fully system tested before release.
A Service Pack is a set of bug fixes along with some feature enhancements. It incorporates
new features, all previous Updates and any additional bug fixes. It has been tested to confirm
the bugs are fixed, the new features works as designed plus some system testing, but still not
the full battery of tests. An Update only contains bug fixes.
An Update will include all of the bug fixes provided by the previous Update plus bug fixes since
the release of the previous Update. An Update is tested to confirm the bugs are fixed along
with some system testing, but still has not gone through the full battery of tests.
A Patch is an individual bug fix that is provided to a specific customer to fix one or more bugs
but is not yet integrated and fully tested enough to be mass distributed to all COMOS users.
A Patch of a higher number does not necessarily contain any of the fixes contained in a lower
Patch number.
The V10.2 notation is used synonymously for the most current release. (Timeline-based
example: 10.2.0.1 followed by 10.2.1.0. All respective versions are covered with the 10.2
notation).
