Puncuation Mystery

How recognize features of a sentence when

reading and apply them when writing

1. Use a capital letter at the start of
my sentence.
2. Identify a period, question mark,
comma, and exclamation mark.

use puncuation and what It does to
my writing.

 What is a period?
A period is used at the end of a
"telling" sentence.
Example:
Minecraft is a game made up of blocks,
creatures, and community.
 What is a comma?
Is used to pause between parts
of a sentence. It is also used to
separate Items In a sentence.
Example:
Minecraft is a game made up of blocks,
creatures, and community.
 What is a exclamation point?
An exclamation point is used at the
end of an "exclaiming" sentence in
order to show a strong feeling.
Example:

Minecraft is my all time favorite game!

 What is a question mark?
It’s used at the end of an
"asking" sentence.

Can you come over this weekend to play
minecraft?

 How to play:
To play the game, you will need the Roll and Write
worksheet, brown puncuation die, a pencil .
Roll the die and whatever puncuation mark It lands
on you find a sentence on your worksheet and add
the puncuation you rolled.
Only one sentence per roll, keep rolling and writing
until all your sentences have been corrected.
As you are working, circle any sentences that do not
start with a captial letter. This shows me you are
noticing a sentence starts with a capital.

We will be working at our tables on our own.
Everyone will have a worksheet, pencil and their
write and roll die.
Write your name at the top.
You should roll your die once and then write a
sentence using the rolled puncuation.
Once you are finished you will turn this in to the
green basket at the front and take a seat quietly
at the carpet. If we stay quiet till everyone is
finished we get an “oh yeah” point.
