Subject: Concern about the increase in the rate of road accidents

Sir

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper I would like to draw the attention of the
concerned authorities towards the problem of increasing rate of road accidents, rash driving
and overcrowded road transport in our city.

Reckless driving and ignoring traffic rules are the primary causes, leading to severe injuries and
loss of life. Overcrowded public transport further adds to the problem, increasing accident
risks. Moreover, road accidents often result in significant financial burdens for individuals and
families, including medical expenses, property damage, and loss of livelihood due to disability
or death of an earning hand. Accidents make the roads crowded and cause traffic jams leading
to other problems. Enforcing traffic regulations with stricter penalties and enhancing public
awareness on road safety can make the situation better.

An urgent action on this matter can resolve the problem for many people. I hope that this
article would find some space in your reputed newspaper to sensitize the authorities and work
as an alarm towards taking drastic actions.
Thanking You
Yours Sincerely
Priya

Subject: Promoting Digital Literacy among Individuals of All Age Groups

Madam

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper I would like to highlight the
importance of digital literacy in today's technology-dependent age. I believe that digital
literacy is a skill that can help every individual navigate a rapidly changing world.

Technology and the internet have made the world smaller than ever. Digital literacy is
essential for enhancing communication, creating access to resources, and equipping
everyone to participate in a digital society. However, I am also aware of the challenges
that come with technology. Issues such as cybersecurity, misinformation, and online
privacy present dangers. Digital literacy programs can help people navigate the digital
world safely and responsibly.

To promote digital literacy, initiatives such as community workshops for a variety of age
groups, and collaborations between educational institutions and technology companies
can be established. By focusing on digital literacy, we can empower individuals to harness
the full potential of technology.
Thanking You
Yours Sincerely

Subject: Proposing Youth-Led Initiatives for Environment

Sir

The current state of our environmental surroundings is a matter of growing

concern. The need for immediate and collective action to address these issues has
never been more crucial. I write to you, not just as a concerned citizen but as a firm
believer in the power of the youth to contribute significantly to our city's ecological
well-being.
To address these concerns, I suggest starting eco-clubs and tree-planting campaigns
at our school. Students can also get involved in waste management and recycling
programs. Workshops on sustainable living practices can help students make eco-
friendly choices. These initiatives empower students to contribute to environmental
conservation and create a greener future.
These initiatives can help instill a sense of responsibility and commitment among
young people, leading to a positive impact on our environment. By supporting such
efforts, the city can harness the energy, creativity, and dedication of its youth to
build a sustainable and eco-friendly environment.
Yours truly
Anthony Pillai

The charts below show agricultural production in two different regions of the
country. Write an analytical paragraph in 100-120 words by selecting and
reporting the main features, and making comparisons where relevant.
Agricultural Production in Eastern and Western Region

The given pie charts show the comparison of agricultural production in both the
eastern and western regions of a particular country. In the Eastern region, a large
proportion of production is obtained from cattle which averages about 65% of the
production. For instance, the first largest is meat with 35% of agricultural production,
followed by the second largest contributor - dairy products with average of about 30%
of production. Vegetables and grain have a share of 20% and 15% respectively. In the
Western region, the Single largest production is from the grains that account for 45%
of production, followed by meat and dairy with 35% and 15% respectively in the
production. Vegetables are by far the least which makes up only 5% among other
products. In a nutshell, Farming products produced in the country show that the
Eastern region is dominated by cattle-based products but the western region has an
equal share of both cattle-reared products and plant-based products.
You are the Head Boy/Head Girl of your school. You decided to make the
school population aware of the advantages of tree plantation and tell them
how trees can serve as better air-conditioners. Write an analytical paragraph
in 100-120 words. Take help of the cues given below.

Cues : Trees keep environment cool by

• taking heat of earth and air
• absorbing carbon-dioxide that helps in controlling temperature rise
• bringing rains
• checking direct sunlight
• providing shade
Advantage of Tree Plantation

Trees play a crucial role in keeping the environment cool through various mechanisms.
Firstly, they absorb heat from the earth and air, acting as natural air conditioners.
Additionally, trees help in controlling temperature rise by absorbing carbon dioxide
during photosynthesis, which also contributes to cleaner air. Moreover, trees play a
vital role in the water cycle by bringing rains through transpiration. They also mitigate
the impact of direct sunlight by providing shade, reducing heat absorption by surfaces.
Overall, trees serve as effective natural air-conditioners, regulating temperature and
creating a more comfortable and sustainable environment for all.

Read an excerpt from an article below:
Supporting Self-driving cars

I believe self-driving cars offer more solutions than problems. Since these
cars would be using the latest technology and advanced sensors and radars,
they would be able to greatly reduce road accidents caused due to human
error. Additionally, since people would not be actively engaged in driving,
they could use their commute time for other activities. Currently, only those
who have the experience and skill of driving a car can do so. But, with a
self-driving car, anyone can have access to a vehicle irrespective of their
skill. However, technology does also malfunction at times, which is why
clear safety protocols and guidelines would need to be put in place before
these cars can be on the roads. Thus, with proper regulations and planning,
I believe self-driving cars can be more helpful than problematic.
Opposing self-driving cars

I believe self-driving cars offer more problems than solutions. While there are
potential benefits associated with self driving vehicles such as reduced road
accidents, there are more significant concerns. One of the main worries is the
safety of self driving cars, as they heavily rely on complex sensors that may fail
in certain scenarios. Another aspect of this safety is that like any electronic
device, a car could then be hacked into and tampered with, leading to
accidents. Additionally, the widespread adoption of self-driving cars may lead
to job loss for millions of professional drivers, causing economic and social
challenges. Moreover, the infrastructure required to support self-driving cars,
such as advanced road systems may not be readily available in many regions.
Therefore, I believe self-driving cars are more problematic than helpful.
