SAFDARJUNG TOMB
Safdarjung sandstone tomb and is a marble mausoleum
in New Delhi, India. Is was built in 1754 in the Mughal
empire style for the state man safdarjung' and was
described the" last flicker in the lamp of Mughal
architecture. "the movement has an
ambiance of spaciournce.
BACKGROUND
Mirza muqim abdul Mansur khan,
who was popularly known as
safdarjung who ruled over awadh
was an independent ruler of
awadh as viceroy of Muhammad
shah. He was very rich and most
powerful. With the death of
emperor Muhammad shah of
Mughal empire, he moved to delhi.
ARCHITECTURE
The safdarjung tomb, the last monumental
tomb garden of the Mughal was planned
and built like garden tomb in line with the
style of Humayun tomb. It was completed
in 1754. The tomb was four key feature
which are charbagh garden plan with the
mausoleum at the centre, a nine floor
plane, five part façade 2nd large
podium with a hidden.
GARDEN
The garden surrounding the tomb has an
area of 2,952 sq.ft (274.2m2) and has a
lay out in the form of four squares with
foot paths and water tank which have
been further subdivided in two smaller
square. The garden is in the mahal
charbagh garden style which is a similar
version of the Humayun tomb which is a
also built in delhi.
