The Evolution of

Weapons
From flint to firepower
The invention of weapons has been
going on for thousands of years to
show human beings’ creativity and
technological advancement. From
rudimentary armament that
characterized the ancient times to
cutting-edge firepower of today, the
direction of arms development has
determined history.
Our ancestors in ancient times depended on
simple but efficient tools that were made
from flint and some other natural materials.
These early implements catered for basic
needs of living and were a basis for other more
complex weapons. As societies grew, their
weapons changed too. During this period, the
Middle Ages, swords, bows and armor emerged
which transformed the ways wars were fought
defining chivalry.
At the time of Renaissance new kinds of warfare were
introduced which involved the use of firearms completely
changing how battles were fought. This altered warfare
dynamics as muskets and cannons made traditional armor
useless. Furthermore, Industrial Revolution expanded weaponry
to another extent as it facilitated mass production of guns and
artillery.
In the 20th century, rapid
technological
advancements led to the
transformation of warfare
into an era typified by
automatic weapons, tanks,
and aircrafts. The Cold War
recorded astounding
improvements that
culminated into nuclear
development which
influenced everything in
this game changer era at all
costs.
