STUDY GUIDE FOR TRIMESTER TWO EXAM

6th graders, the exam is looming ahead! This is a good opportunity to assess your
achievements. Your ELA second trimester exam will assess your skills. Most of the questions
will be based on the novel Al Capone Does My Shirts : We shall put the focus character
analysis, the 5-ey elements of a story, Vocabulary, literary terms, grammar, learning and
reading and writing strategies. These different sections have been studied in class and you
need to revise them to prepare the examination.

.CONTENT:
Please read carefully this study guide because it reminds and summarizes areas covered over
the semester in courses, classwork, and homework. This guide tries to help you review all
materials. You will need to review all previous knowledge and documents in order to be fully
prepared for the exam...

ASSIGNMENT: The exam will consist of three parts:

PART I: LITERARY ANALYSIS. You will be given some short answer questions related
to Al Capone Does My Shirts. You will also have multiple choice questions about Al Capone
Does My Shirts. You will have an independent text to read and answer the related questions.

PART II: GRAMMAR AND VOCABULARY: You will be asked to match the words
with their synonyms, and other words with their antonyms. You will also have to turn
sentences into the passive voice, complete sentences with the right prepositions,
Homophones, and the right tenses. You will pick out the correct answer among three (3) or
four (4) possible answers.
PART III: ESSAY WRITING. This part consists of an expository essay. The paper will
include two pages, three parts (an introduction in one paragraph, a body in three paragraphs
and a conclusion in one paragraph).
