Optional Equipment

The electrically operated boom and hoist assembly is designed as a quick-removable unit attached to
the transmission deck. They enable quick installation or removal of the winch boom and hoist
assembly.
The hoist is mounted on a swiveling arm, thus the hook can be moved close to the door for in-flight
loading into the helicopter and it can be moved up and down outboards for unobstructed hoisting
beside the landing gear (to the extent of about 62° related to the fuselage side).

Figure 5: Hoist operation

The sliding sliding door size has been designed to allow loading of a person in a horizontal position.
The skids with cranked or straight boarding steps offer an operation platform for the winch operator
who controls the operation. The cable length is indicated on the control grip.
The hoist system is equipped with an explosive-type cable cutter that can be operated from the remote
control grip and pilot's and copilot's seat. A mechanical back-up system enables the operator to cut the
cable in case of emergency.

The hoist characteristics (technical data) are as follows:

• Cable length 90 m / 295 ft; or 50 m / 164 ft
• Permissible load (up/down) above 0°C OAT: 249 kg / 550 lbs
at or below 0°C OAT: 227 kg / 500lbs
• Cable speed variable between 0 and 1.27 m/sec (250 ft/min)
The external hoist is designed for continuous duty cycle operation.
Swinging the hoist boom inwards or outwards has no influence on the winch cycle. The winch motor is
provided with an overheating protection which will automatically slow down winch operation and
indicate overheating via a red warning light on the winch operator pendant (control grip).
A fastening strap for rescuer and an anti-static cable for the winch hook are included in the scope of
delivery.

A hoist cable inspection roller set is provided with the hoist, vendor parts. It is designed to deflect the
hoist cable by 90° during hoist cable inspection.

4 External hoist, damper kit & hook options

A "small hook damper kit" is installed for the H135. If the hoist will be used on a H145, a "large damper
kit" have to be installed instead of the "small hook damper kit".
Two alternative hooks are available for customer selection:
• The D-LOK hook is the standard hook,
• The slide-lock hook can be selected by the customer in case of specific need

Training
The following training is provided with the external hoist, vendor parts:

Hoist maintenance procedures

• Two days of theoretical and practical training for technician or operator
• Examination in written form
The course extends the privileges of experienced Aircraft Technicians (mechanics) with knowledge
and skills. It enables them to maintain the external hoist system in accordance with official technical
documentation.

Hoist operation
• Training of one crew (one pilot + one hoist operator) at the OEM facilities.
• One day of theoretical & practical training on ground followed by 4 hours flight training for the crew
on the customer's helicopter.
• Crew will be trained to gain experience in hoist operation and crew co-ordination.
