1. Give a reflective account of the most recent Basic Life Support training received in
the workplace.
The Basic Life support training I received at my work place was very educational and
thought me how to react in different emergency situations.
We covered the most common emergencies during the working day and how to react and
behave.
The most useful information was the steps we need to take and crucial decisions that could
save a patient’s life.

2. Please enclose a copy of your BLS Certificate which must not be older than 12 months
from the purchase date of this RoE.

3. Provide a list of emergency drugs / equipment kept in your own workplace and state
their expiry dates and uses.
-Adrenalin injection 1mg in 1ml: expiry date: 10/2019 and is used to treat severe allergic
reactions (anaphylaxis) to insect stings or bites, foods, drugs, and other allergens.
-Aspirin 300mg: expiry date 09/2020; used to treat or prevent heart attacks, strokes, and
chest pain (angina).
-Glucagen Hypokit 1mg with expiry date 10/2019 is used to treat severe
hypoglycaemia (extremely low blood sugar levels, or “hypos”) in people using insulin or
taking tablets to control their diabetes, who have become unconscious.
-Glucogel 40% Hypostop with expiry date 03/20119 raises sugar levels quickly and provides
a fast-acting energy boost in the form of Dextrose Gel (40% dextrose) and also as a essential
emergency accessory for treatment of potential diabetic coma.
-Glyceryl Trinitrate Spray(400micrograms/dose) with expiry date 10/2020 is a spray
used to relieve angina (chest pain). When sprayed under the tongue, it relaxes and widens
blood vessels in the heart and in the rest of the body.
-Salomol CFC-Free inhaler with expiry date 02/2019 it is help to relieve chest tightness,
wheezing and cough. Salamol CFC-Free Inhaler is used to help prevent and treat breathing
problems in people with asthma and chronic obstructive airways disease. This type of
medicine is known as a 'reliever'.
-Midazolam 5mg/ml -expiry data 05/2019 used to control convulsions (fits or seizures) in
patient with epilepsy.
-Oropharyngeal Airways Sizes 2 expiry date N/A is used for children and is a medical device
called an airway adjunct used to maintain or open a patient's airway. It does this by
preventing the tongue from covering the epiglottis, which could prevent the person from
breathing.

an airway adjunct used to maintain or open a patient's airway. It does this by preventing the
tongue from covering the epiglottis, which could prevent the person from breathing.
- Monoject x 3 are needle based safety devices that protect the healthcare worker from
accidental needlestick injuries. The easy one-handed design and robust safety shield of
the Monoject Syringe ensures the clinician is protected against any exposures from sharps
injury.
-Portex Nasopharyngeal 6ml x 2 with expiry date 11/2019 is facilitates suctioning in
intensive care and also provides an alternative airway during accident and emergency
procedures when the oropharyngeal pathway is occluded.
-Syringe with needle 5ml x 2 expiry date 05/2020 syringes and hypodermic needles, which
can be used in a medical emergency.
-Syringe with needle 10ml expiry date 12/2020 syringes and hypodermic needles, which
can be used in a medical emergency.

medical emergency.
Venflon 32 mm expiry date 01/2019 used to draw blood. The catheter is introduced into
the vein by a needle (similar to blood drawing), which is subsequently removed while the
small tube of the cannula remains in place and for securing venous access in
an emergency situation, especially in multiple trauma victims.

upper airway clear for unobstructed ventilation.

the patient fully recovers.

cardiac arrest.

-oxygen masks with reservoir can be used to deliver high concentrations of oxygen to a
spontaneously breathing patient.
-clear face masks for self-inflating bag. These masks are designed for use with manual and
automatic resuscitators and ventilators.
-scissors for cutting patient clothes
-portable suction-used to remove substances such as blood, saliva, mucus, and vomit from
a person's airway.
-oxygen saturation monitor-used to measure the oxygen level in your blood and your heart
rate.
-blood pressure monitor -sphygmomanometer to monitor the blood pressure on the
patient during emergence.
-pocket mask with oxygen port - rescue mask prevents direct contact with patient's mouth,
nose and face and helps overcome hesitation to start resuscitation. Transparent dome
allows rescuer to visually check for patient's lip colour and vomitus. Oxygen inlet facilitates
increased oxygen delivery to patient.
