THE INFLUENCE OF DIGITAL STORYTELLING

IN EFL/ESL STUDENTS’ WRITING SKILLS

ABSTRACT
This research synthesis aims to explore and analyze how digital
storytelling (DS) improves and enhances students' writing skills as well
as the teacher's and learner´s perceptions on its use as an educational
tool.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS
What factors of DS influence students’ writing
skills?
What writing micro-skills are the most
developed through DS?
What are students’ and teachers’ perceptions
regarding the use of DS as an educational tool?

METHODOLOGY
Only Empirical studies were analyzed.
Quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methodological
approaches were considered.
The articles focused only on the English language.
The articles analyzed information in
EFL/ESL classrooms.
All of the studies applied DS as an educational tool.
The papers were based on students' writing performance.
The articles discussed students' and teachers' perceptions.
The publication date of the articles was from 2016 and
onwards.
