CASE STUDY :

Case 1:
Alice’s use the computer at school to join the zoom lesson. She open the
online learning environment to get the full link to join the lesson. She only
close the browser after the lesson. One day, a unknow people use her name
to join the lesson and take the attendance. Her individual information is
being used by someone.
OBSERVATION :
◼ Zoom don’t need to sign in to join the meeting. When the computer
was infected. Another person using an infected computer to join the
Zoom meeting. The IP was easy to hacked by another user through
the trojan horse.
◼ Using random meeting ID. It avoid unknown user to hack the meeting.
◼ The administrator set up the waiting room and accept the student one-by-one
to join the zoom meeting.
PROBLEM 2 –
FUNCTION LIMITATION
OF ZOOM
◼ Zoom haven’t the multiple two steps verification
options. In Google meet, all data is encrypted in
transit by default between the client and Google for
video meetings on a web browser. Meet adheres to
IETF security standards for Datagram Transport Layer
Security (DTLS) and Secure Real-time Transport
Protocol (SRTP).
◼ For every person and for every meeting, Google
Meet generates a unique encryption key, which only
lives as long as the meeting, is never stored to disk,
and is transmitted in an encrypted and secured RPC
(remote procedure call) during the meeting setup.
PROBLEM 2 –
FUNCTION LIMITATION OF ZOOM
➢ Methods to prevent and solve the problem:
◼ Avoid provide the full link to the student. Administrator only provide the
Zoom meeting ID and password to student to join the Zoom meeting.
◼ Student need to name the display name as special formats. (e.g. SID_student
name). It can show it to the administrator and let the administrator
distinguish who are you?
