Stress is a factor in all our lives. Learning to deal with stress in a

positive, intelligent way is essential to good health. One way to combat
stress is to get rid of it in physical activities. Anything from jogging around
the neighborhood to an exercise on the dance floor can relieve stress
and, surprisingly, give you more energy to come with life. Stress can also
be controlled by changing your mental attitude. Learn to accept things;
fighting against the unavoidable or the inevitable is useless. Learn to take
one thing at a time. Rather than trying to do everything at once, deal with
more important problems first, and leave the rest to another day. Learn
to take your mind off yourself. Since stress is self-centered, doing
something for others helps reduce it.

Choosing a Dream House

Husband: I'm glad we spent the day looking at houses. I'm excited for us to
buy our first home!
Wife: Me too! Let's take a look at the pictures again and imagine what it would
be like if we lived in each one.
Husband: This was the first one we saw. The location is great but it is the most
expensive one. If we lived there, I wouldn't have to drive so far to go to work
every day.
Wife: True, but I would have to hire cleaners every week. I don't think I could
clean it all myself. We do have two kids!
Husband: Yeah, we would need a gardener as well if we wanted to keep the
lawn looking nice. Did you see that backyard? It was enormous!
Wife: I agree. I think I would like this house more if it wasn't so big.
We don't need that much space. Do you think we could even afford it?
Husband: If we won the lottery we could!
Wife: Okay, let's look at the second house we visited.
Husband: I loved that yard. If we had a dog, it would be the perfect size for it to
run around safely.
Wife: Oh, the kids would love it so much if we got a pet!
But I thought that the house itself would be too small for a dog.
Husband: You know what? I thought so too. Did you notice how tiny the
bathrooms were as well? I didn't like them that much. We would have to keep
all of our toiletries in the hall closet.
Wife: Yeah, and if we wanted a third bedroom, we would have to renovate the
basement.
Husband: I would prefer it if we didn't have to renovate so soon after buying
it.
Wife: I agree.
Husband: Okay, this house was the last one we visited, and I really liked the
size of it.
Wife: For sure! We wouldn't have to make many changes if we lived there.
Husband: And it's so close to a supermarket. Wouldn't it be perfect if we didn't
have to drive for groceries?
Wife: Oh, it would be so great! And the kids would love the tree house in the
backyard.
Husband: What did you think about the kitchen?
Wife: I loved it. It would be a perfect size if we hosted a dinner party.
Husband: And that 80-inch tv we saw at the store last weekend would fit
perfectly in the living room.
Wife: If we agreed to buy it. We'll see about that.
Husband: Haha, okay. So honey, if we had to make a decision today, what
would your heart tell you?
Wife: If we were to make a decision right now, I would choose this one. It's the
best option we have seen in months and I'm quite tired of searching.
Husband: I agree! So, let's call the realtor and start the process because I think
we found our new home.
Wife: I guess we did!

B. Analysis

could be applied.

C. Abstraction
Discussion:

What is a Conditional Sentence?

A conditional sentence is a type of sentence that tells a condition and its
result. It is composed of a main clause (independent clause) and a subordinate
clause (dependent clause) which is also known as the if-clause.
What is the function of Conditional Sentence Type 2?
The second type of conditional sentence expresses dreams or unreal
situations in the present or in the future. It is used in the following situations:

1. for an occurrence or result of a condition that is impossible to fulfill;

example:

 If I were a butterfly, I would thank you Lord for giving me wings.

(A person turned to a butterfly is a condition that is fictional and cannot be
fulfilled)

 If I were a millionaire, I could travel the world.

(The condition is contrary to the fact and impossible to happen.)

 If I were the president, I would pass a law that prioritizes the

environment more.

2. to give advice
• I would not stop studying if I were you.
• If I were you, I would accept the challenge.
Second Conditional Statement Structure

Conditional sentences can be written in two ways:

• If it did not rain, the children would play outside .
