Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

I would like to use an example of when we had to fire an employee for improper behavior on one
of our company trips. We went to Las Vegas for a Red Bull event and this employee that was on
the trip with us had gone out all night and missed our event the following day. There was tension
between all of us who were on the trip and the whole situation was difficult for everyone
involved.

Describe how the human resources of the organization influenced the situation.

The HR team is responsible for creating and enforcing workplace policies, including those
related to conduct outside of regular work hours or off-site events. They ensure that employees
understand what is expected of them and the consequences of not meeting these expectations. If
there was a policy regarding attendance at company events, HR would be responsible for
enforcing it and addressing any violations. When incidents such as this occur, HR often takes the
lead in investigating the matter to gather facts about what happened. This may involve
interviewing other employees who attended the trip, reviewing any relevant documentation, and
speaking with the employee in question. Their goal is to determine the extent of the issue and
decide on appropriate next steps.Since the incident created tension among the team members,
HR could have facilitated conflict resolution sessions to help address the issues and emotions
arising from the situation. By fostering open communication and promoting understanding, they
can assist in rebuilding relationships within the team.
Recommend how you would use the human resources for an alternative course of action
regarding your case.

Based on the situation, I would recommend disciplinary action. Due to the severity of the offense
and previous infractions, this could range from verbal warnings to written reprimands,
suspension, or even termination. In this case, termination occurred due to the significant impact
of missing the important event. To prevent similar situations from happening again, I might
develop additional training programs focusing on professionalism, responsibility, and adherence
to company policies. These initiatives aim to reinforce positive behaviors and minimize future
instances of misconduct.

Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned about this
frame.

HR Professionals possess extensive knowledge about employment law, company policies, and
best practices for managing personnel issues. They offer valuable insights and recommendations
to help managers navigate complex situations effectively and make informed decisions. Affected
employees often have many questions about company policies, procedures, and their rights
during challenging times. HR provides accurate answers, clarifies misunderstandings, and shares
relevant resources to help employees better understand the situation. By offering comprehensive
support to both management and employees, HR plays a critical role in maintaining positive
working environments, ensuring fair treatment, and upholding organizational values during
challenging personal situations. Based on the severity of the situation I would have done exactly
what was done in my case that I provided. Behavior like that is not acceptable at a company
sponsored trip. Professionalism is very important in the workplace and must be taken seriously.
