The goal of this presentation is to provide an overview of the main BIS-related

services and processes running on the BIS Login Server.

1. Main BIS Services
1.1 A1_BISStarter
This service starts the other BIS-related services with delay.
1.2 A1_Proxy-Verwalter
This service is started by the A1_BIS Starter service and manages server components
among themselves. This includes OPC servers.
1.3 A1_EventLogManager
This service checks the content of the Eventlog_entries folder, then writes the events into the
SQL database. If stopped, no events are written into the logbook.
1.4 A1_BisClientproxyWcfServer
This service provides the WCF (Windows Communication Format) interface for BIS. This is
required for the communication between BIS and the remote site BIS or a BMS (Building
Management System).

2. Main BIS Processes
2.1 ParaServer
Parametrization server process. This process reads from the configuration.crp file what is
configured, and gives this data to dependent processes and to the BIS Client.
2.2 State-Machine
State machine service process. Associates and processes message states from the pool. Works
with triggers, counters, etc.
2.3 DarstellungsServer
Presentation server process. Connects to and manages the controls in the browser. In other
words: on the client, this makes the background of symbols and addresses coloured according to
their current state.
2.4 BedienerProxy
User proxy process. Used for user identification. This service “knows” which user is connected to
which IP address, and through this process the user rights which have been configured are
applied.

2.5 OPCLogbookProxy
This process is an internal OPC server. The state of this process is shown in BIS GUI among the
virtual items as Eventlog.
2.6 MessagePool
This is an internal server process. Holds the messages from the system and delivers them to the
Clients according to the configuration.
2.7 ApplicationLauncher
Internal OPC Server to start external applications on the BIS Login server PC.
