Subject: Engineering Graphics

Academic Year: 2023-24 Class: F.E

SEM-II Division: I/J
Assignment No: V
Unit VI: Development of Lateral Surfaces.
1. A cube of side 40 mm is resting on HP with its base on HP such that one of its vertical faces is
inclined at 300 to the VP. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to VP, inclined to HP at an
angle 450 and passes through the midpoint of the axis. Draw the development of the lower lateral
surface of the cube.

2. A Pentagonal prism of base 30mm and axis 60 mm long is kept on HP in such a way that one
of its base edges is parallel to VP and near to the observer. AIP cutting plane bisects its axis at
450. Draw the development of lateral surface of the given object.

3. A square pyramid, side of base 40mm and axis length 70mm is kept on the HP with two sides
of base parallel to VP It is cut by an AIP inclined at 60 deg to HP and passing through a point on
axis 40mm from the base. Draw the DLS of the Pyramid removing the portion containing apex.

4.A regular hexagonal pyramid of base 30 mm and height 60 mm is resting vertically on its base
on HP such that two sides of the base are perpendicular to VP . It is cut by a plane inclined at 40°
to HP and perpendicular to VP .The cutting plane bisect the axis of the pyramid. Obtain the DLS
of truncated pyramid.

5.Draw the development of surface of a cylinder having base diameter 50 m and axis height 80
mm. Kept on HP . it is cut by a cutting plane which is inclined at 45° with HP. and bisecting the
axis of cylinder.

6. A pentagonal pyramid, side of base 30 mm and height 52 mm, stands with its base on HP and
an edge of base is parallel to VP and nearer to it. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to VP.
Inclined at 40° to HP and passing through a point on the axis, 32 mm above the base. Draw
sectional top view and development of lateral surface of the truncated pyramid.
