PCA-Choosing an Organization Worksheet

Worksheet Objectives:
1. Identify an organization and situation you want to study over the remainder of the course.
2. Describe the organization and the situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Name and describe your organization.

For my case study, I have decided to look at and investigate The Walt Disney Company.
The main mission as stated on the company website, “is to entertain, inform and inspire people
around the globe through the power of unparalleled storytelling, reflecting the iconic brands,
creative minds and innovative technologies that make ours the world’s premier entertainment
company.” The Walt Disney Company has multiple branches, including but not limited to The
Walt Disney Studios, ABC Entertainment, Disney Parks and Resorts, Disney Store and many
others. From its initial creation in 1923 to this day The Walt Disney Company has been a
pioneering statue and driving force for the entertainment industry. The Walt Disney Company
has a large executive leadership team currently led by Robert Iger, who has recently come back
to his role as chief executive officer replacing former CEO, Bob Chapek. with the company's
broad, and ever ranging departments, strong leadership is a key player for success.

2) Describe your role in the organization (it can be an internal or external role).

As an administrative assistant at The Walt Disney Company I will be presenting news,

memos, and more for stakeholders in the company as well as the general public for the duration
of my case study.

3) Describe the situation, including information you think the will help the reader
understand the most important elements of the situation. (This will require
selectivity: part of the art of case writing is separating the essential facts from the
mass of information that might be included).

In April 2022 The Walt Disney Company decided to fire chief executive officer, Bob Chak
with a $20 million severance package. In this case, I will be focusing on the failed leadership
and how/why other members of the executive team came across this decision. This case study
will focus on Chapek’s successes and failures, and how some ideas worked and others did . I
will also be going into his replacement, which happens to be Robert Iger, the previous chief

1
executive officer before Chapek. I will go into detail about Iger’s incentive package and his
leadership style and current failures and successes. The Walt Disney company has had many
great successes, but it also is not new to failures. I think that this case study will showcase how
companies learn from mistakes and ultimately have the opportunity to thrive when the right
decisions are made.
