Rituals.)
- Colonial ( Started when the Philippines was colonized by Spaniards. They introduced formal
paintings, sculpture and architecture influenced with Byzantine, Gothic, Baroque and Rococo art
style. Most art are religious (catholic based).\

Fernando Amorsolo ( painted and sketched more than ten thousand pieces over his lifetime
using natural and backlighting techniques. His most known works are of the dalagang Filipina,
landscapes of his Filipino homeland, portraits and WWII war scenes.)
Damian Domingo ( Famously known as the father of Philippine painting, Damián Domingo
pioneered a trailblazing path for early Filipino artists by establishing an art academy in his
residence in Tondo, Manila in 1821.)
Juan Luna ( His most important achievement was in winning a gold medal at the National
Exposition of Fine Arts in Madrid in 1884 for his magnum opus, the Spoliarium - an epic mural
showing the fallen bodies of Roman gladiators being dragged out of the arena. This was a
transitional year for Juan Luna.)
Guillermo Tolentino ( One of his most known works is the UP Oblation, an emblem embodying
the value of freedom on the campus of the University of the Philippines.)
Cesar Legaspi ( Filipino artist Cesar Legaspi is best known for exploring issues of social
injustice in his Cuban-inspired works.)
Lino Brocka ( He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and significant filmmakers in

Lamberto Avellana ( was a prominent Filipino film and stage director. Despite considerable

Anak Dalita and Badjao attained international acclaim.)
Manuel Conde ( made almost three dozen films under LVN Pictures as a contract star. He later
put up his own movie company, Manuel Conde Pictures, in 1947 which produced classic films,
notably the Juan Tamad series.)

Gamayo who used traditional patterns.)

Singkil ( very unique Philippines traditional dance of the Maranao people in Southern
Philippines. )
Tinikling ( Tinikling is a traditional Philippine folk dance which originated during the Spanish
colonial era. The dance involves at least two people beating, tapping, and sliding bamboo poles
on the ground and against each other in coordination with one or more dancers who step over
and in between the poles in a dance.
Maglalatik ( The Maglalatik is a folk dance from the Philippines performed by male dancers.
Coconut shell halves are secured onto the dancers' hands and on vests upon which are hung
four or six more coconut shell halves.)
Sayaw sa Bangko (The dance is performed on top of a narrow bench. The dancers will
requirements good balance as they go through a series of movements with some impressive
acrobatics. The dance and came back to the area of ??Pangapisan, Lingayen and Pangasinan.)
