1 Introduction
1.1 General

The operation manual contains information concerning use, maintenance, control and repair of the B385
vertical platform. It is important that the owner, the person managing, assembler and users familiarised
themselves with its content.

The platform meets the safety requirements set forth in the guidelines of the Machinery Directive, is it
easy to operate and does not require frequent maintenance.

Persons authorised by the manufacturer should carry out maintenance on the vertical platform on a regular
basis.

Only the manufacturer or an authorised service centre may repair the device.

Repair or maintenance work under a moving platform may be carried out only when the power supply has
been disconnected.

Control: Call by pressing and holding the button on a call panel or on the order

3 Safety instructions
3.1 General

Only a competent person1 may carry out work on the vertical lift.

Study the operation manual and observe its provisions before using the lift.

3.2 Permitted use

The lift is designed to be used for passengers.

3.3 Prohibited

 Never allow children to play with the lift and exercise care if children are playing in the vicinity of
the lift.

 Never jump or swing while the lift is in operation.

 Do not insert loose objects between the frame and the lift platform.

 Do not remove parts of the lift and do not subject the lift to physical force or other damage.

 Signs with warning text and safety instructions must not be removed, covered or made illegible.

 Do not spray water on the lift or subject it to other liquid spillage.

 Do not use the lift if it is faulty or functions abnormally.

 Pay attention to ensure that visible electrical components, for example, pushbuttons, cables, and the
like are not damaged.

 The lift must not be used for purposes other than those described in the manual.

 The lift is not designed for goods handling. Never exceed the acceptable lifting capacity.

 Never exceed the acceptable lifting capacity.

 Prevent the use of the platform that is unintended and inconsistent with the regulations (e.g. by
playing children).

Competent person
Person, with appropriate training, qualified through knowledge and practice, and provided with the necessary instructions, is
allowed to perform work related to safety.

 Do not use the platform during fire.

 Keep the casing and platform free from loose clothing during travel.

 Watch out for obstacles in the travel direction.

 Never insert objects or pour fluids into the gaps or other holes, even when the platform is at a
standstill.

 Do not remove, disconnect, distort or operate any elements of the platform or its control using force.

 Do not move the gates using force either when the platform is travelling or when at a standstill.

 Stop the platform travel immediately, if you encounter any objects or other obstacles in the platform
travel area.

 Leave repairs to professionals.

 No parts of the body or a wheelchair may protrude beyond the area of the floor and barriers of the
platform when travelling.

 Do not use the platform in environments where there is a risk of explosion.

 Do not make any unnecessary movements while on the platform, e.g. do not rock or swing the
platform.

 Dirt on the platform should be removed with a mild detergent, never with a jet of water.

 The platform and its travel track must be sufficiently lit with natural or electrical light. Electric
lighting must be independent of periodical power shutdowns.

3.4 Measures before working on the lift

The lift must always be disconnected from the mains supply using the safety circuit breaker before work
or emergency lowering is started. The lift may also need to be disconnected from the mains supply using
an external switch when work needs to be carried out on the safety circuit breaker or supply cables
(external wiring is not included in the delivery, refer to local regulations).

3.5 Conditions of use

B385 vertical platform is a platform without a shaft used for transportation of the disabled between the
two agreed levels.

B385 vertical platform may be installed inside or outside buildings, scope of temperatures: -35 – +45ºC.

We recommend you sign a contract for platform maintenance. This will guarantee your B385 platform is
in optimal technical condition as a result of regular maintenance and service.

3.6 Actions in the event of electrical accidents

1. The following actions should be taken in the event of electrical accidents:


2. Switch the power off immediately. Should it not be possible to switch off the power, the
injured person must be released from the live component. A non-conductive material must be
used when removing the injured person, for example, rubber gloves. If possible, the person
performing the freeing action should stand on an isolating surface.
3. If the injured person is not breathing, ensure that the airways are clear and start artificial
respiration. In the event of cardiac arrest, give cardiac massage.
4. If the injured person is breathing, but is unconscious, he/she should be placed in the recovery
position.
5. Summon personnel at the workplace trained in first aid and call an ambulance.

4 General figure

Figure 1 shows B385 platform in L-LL execution. The direction of opening gates and location of the top
stop are examples – the specific device used by you may be configured differently.

5 Operating instruction
5.1 General

B385 vertical platform is equipped with a control panel on the platform and two call panels at stops. The
control panel has travel buttons, “UP”, “DOWN” and an emergency “STOP” button. The call panel is
equipped with travel buttons, “UP” and “DOWN”. The B385 platform has also limitation of access by
means of a radio remote which turns the control on and off. This remote control can be used only by
persons trained by the manufacturer, who have become familiar with its operation.

Before travelling, press a button on the radio remote to start up control and activate the travel direction
buttons.

Keep the travel button pressed all the time when travelling. Releasing the button will stop the platform.
The platform will stop automatically after reaching a stop.

The platform is called to the required level by pressing a button on the call panel. Make sure the buttons
are pressed and held during travelling. A gate can be opened after the platform stops at the stop. After
closing the gate, the platform can be sent to the desired stop by pressing the correct button.

If the platform has more than one user, it is important to close the gate again allowing other persons to call
the platform to another level.

The emergency stop button is used in case of danger and stops the travel. An activated button must be
turned in order return it to its normal position.

B385 vertical platform is equipped with a radio remote to restrict access. It is used to activate the above
functions of the control buttons.

5.2 Operation

Lifting capacity: 385 kg or 3 persons.

5.2.1 Summoning the platform

1. Activate the device using an access remote


2. Press and hold the call button
3. Wait for the arrival of a platform
4. Open a gate
5. Enter (drive in) the platform
6. The gate will close automatically
5.2.2 Travel

1. Make sure that the “STOP” button (red colour) is pressed out
2. Press a button on the order panel corresponding to the requested direction of travel
3. After stopping at a stop, the platform will stop automatically
4. Open the gate manually
5. Exit (drive out from) the platform
6. Make sure that the gate has been closed

6 Procedure in case of malfunction
6.1 Emergency lowering

The platform may be lowered manually, if it has stopped between stops, by following the instruction
below.

1. Open the cover at the top of the motor room using a special key, unlock the crank and
pull it upwards. Rotate the crank anticlockwise until it is possible to open the lower
gate.

2. After lowering, retutn the crank ito its position and make sure it has been properly
locked.

An option is that the electric emergency exit has been activated by the caretaker using a special key on the
call panel on the bottom or top stop.

6.2 In case of malfunction

6.2.1 The platform does not respond to pressing buttons

1. Check if control has been activated with a remote (correct operation is signalled by
illumination of the buttons on the order panel).

2. Check if the emergency stop has been pressed by accident on the platform.

3. Check if the safety strip on the barrier of the platform is activated.

4. Check if the crank for emergency lowering is properly fitted in its place (the crank is
placed under the cover at the top of the motor room).

5. Check platform fuses (the fuses are placed in a plastic cabinet under the cover at the top
of the motor room).

6. Check the fuses in the building.

6.2.2 Platform gives an audio signal

1. Check if the order panel on the platform is signaling an overload. If so this indicates
exceeding the acceptable load capacity of the lift. In such a case reduce the load, which
has been placed on the platform.

6.2.3 Platform travels up, but not down

1. Check if the safety plate under the platform is activated.

6.2.4 Platform stops after 50 mm from starting from the stop

1. This indicates incorrect closing and bolting of a gate. Go to a stop and check if the gate
is closed properly.

7 Trouble shooting
7.1 General

1. Open the cover at the top of the motor room and open the plastic box. Check the
incoming power supply by carrying out measurements on terminals L1, L2 and L3.

2. Check terminal Z, in the case of lack of power check fuse No. 9.

3. Check terminal 9, in the case of no power check switch No. 13 for manual operation of
the lift and the crank.

4. Open the box on the platform.

5. Check terminal 9, in the case of no power, check the flat cable.

6. Check terminal S, in the case of no power, check the phase sequence on the KF sensor.

7. Check terminal 23, in the case of no power, check limit switch 7.

8. Check terminal 24, in the case of no power, check the safety strips switch on the 35 and
36 platform barrier.

9. Check terminal 10, in the case of no power, check the STOP button on the platform.

7.2 If it is possible to travel up, but not down

1. Press and hold the target down travel button. Check terminal 11, in the case of no
power, check the target down travel button 28.

2. If the platform travels when the target “Down” button is pressed, but it does not
respond to call buttons at stops, check the flat cable between terminal 10 and 11 and
call buttons 27 and 33.

3. Press and hold any “Down” button. Check terminal 13, in the case of no power and if
the platform is located less than 50 mm below the top stop, check the locking zone
bypass switch 20. If the platform is more than 50 mm below the top level, check upper
transom 19.

4. Press and hold the “Down” button. Check terminal 14, in the case of no power, check
switches of safety strip 22, 23, 24 and 25.

5. Press and hold the “Down” button. Check terminal 15, in the case of no power, check
the stopping down travel switch.

6. If terminal 15 does not conduct current and the platform does not travel, check the
down travel lock sensor 38, contactors and motor.

7.3 If it is possible to travel down, but not up

1. Press and hold the target “Up” travel button. Check terminal 12, in the case of no
power, check the target “Top” button 31.

2. If the platform travels, when the target “Up” button is pressed, but does not respond to
call buttons at stops, check the flat cable between terminal 10 and 12 and call buttons
30 and 34.

3. Press and hold any “Up” button. Check terminal 16, in the case of no power and if the
platform is located less than 50 mm above the lower stop, check the locking zone
bypass switch 18. If the platform is located more than 50 mm above the lower stop,
check the switch on platform 17.

4. Press and hold the “Up” button. Check terminal 19, in the case of no power, check the
up travel stop switch 32.

5. Press and hold the “Up” button. Check terminal 20, in the case of no power, check the
switch supervising driving nut 21.

6. If terminal 20 does not conduct current and the platform does not travel, check
contactors and motor.

8 Maintenance
8.1 Two different types of maintenance

8.1.1 Basic maintenance

Should be done once a month. The main reason of this review is to check the current platform is safe for
operation.

8.1.2 An overview of the main unit

Should be done once a year. This is the main maintenance inspection, which aims to ground maintenance
of individual components and elements of the platform.

8.2 Tasks for basic maintenance

1. Check that the emergency stop button on the platform works.

2. Check that the safety bars on the barrier platform work.

3. Check the operation and safety of the floor mounting plate, the downward movement
must be interrupted whenever a platform is raised.

4. Let theplattform gates be open, then try to run the lift in both directions. The platform
should not move in any direction.

8.3 Tasks for overview of the main unit

1. Check the crank's switch by raising it, also check the possibility of manual, emergency
lowering of the platform.

2. Check that the emergency stop button on the platform works.

3. Check that the safety strip on the barrier of the platform works.

4. Check the switch of latch when leaving stops with an open gate. The platform must
stop on the way less than 100 mm from the stop.

5. Check the safety plate under the floor, travel down must be stopped whenever the plate
is raised.

6. Check the limit switch by switching it on when travelling up.

7. Check the switch supervising a driving nut by switching it on when travelling up. Also
check whether it is properly adjusted, the wheel must be approximately 0.5 mm from
the nut's surface.

8.4 Check wear of drive cap

1. Dismantle the lower panel at the front of the motor room and remove the lower shield
on the control panel. Travel to the lower stop with the platform.

2. A measurement tool is fitted on the platform beam. It must be possible to insert this
between the main and safety nuts. If it is not possible replace both caps. The distance
between the new nuts should be 1.5 mm larger than the width of the tool's end.

3. Measure drive nut wear using the measurement tool (1) Figure 2.

4. During normal operations the measuring tool is located at (2).

8.5 Lubricating

1. Remove the panels at the front of the motor room and remove the lower panel on the
control panel. Lubricate the driving screw and guides.

2. Lubricate the screw with grease, travel up and down several times with the platform;
continue until the screw is coated on its whole length. Remove excess grease from the
cap.

3. Use a lubricant designed for lubrication of open screw gear, strings, ropes, chains and
firmly loaded sliding bearings. This has been formulated to reduce maximum friction
and wear on the screw mechanism while minimising the consumption of grease. The
lubricant does not require heating or solvents and its application is easier and more
economical compared to conventional lubricants.

Guides are to be lubricated by applying a lubricating agent in the form of an aerosol.

8.6 Replacement of nuts

1. Dismanlte the lower panel at the front of the motor room and remove the lower shield
on the control panel. Travel to the lower stop with the platform.

2. Remove the switch supervising the driving nut.

3. Loosen the drive belts to allow the cap to be rotated by hand.

4. Remove the flexible screw support.

5. Unscrew the cap until the screw comes off.

6. Clamp the new caps together and then open to a distance that is approx. 1.5 mm larger
than that of the end of the measurement tool.

7. Screw on cap on the screw keeping the distance between them (when the safety nut
enter the thread the distance will change a bit).

8. When the caps get closer to the pulley, ensure that the pins on the pulley align with the
holes in the cap.

9. Install the screw support.

10. Tighten the belts.

11. Install the switch controlling the driving nut, the roll of the switch should be located
approximately ca. 0.5 mm from the nut's surface.

12. Fit the end of the measurement tool to its width so that it is 1.5 mm smaller than the
distance between caps.

11 Discarding
11.1 General

When the life of the lift has come to its end, the lift’s components must be dismantled, discarded and
taken care of with regard to the environment and local laws and regulations.

11.2 Dismantling to discard

Follow the lift’s installation manual in the reverse order.

Electrical components, painted parts, plastic parts are sorted and handled in accordance with local laws
and regulations for taking care of and discarding.

Components consisting of different materials where it is not possible to separate the materials are to be
treated as the most hazardous material.

11.3 Risks involved with discarding

Warning!

Ensure that the power supply to the lift, including the backup supply is switched off before starting to
dismantle the lift.

Note!

Always follow local environment- and safety regulations and laws when discarding the lift.

The safety instructions set out in the lift’s installation manual must be observed when dismantling.
