INTRODUCTION:
Summative Assessment is a type of assessment done after the lesson or chapter. It is
used to measure the different ways learners use and apply knowledge, understanding and
skills. This training is conducted to help teachers give proper summative assessment and
identify its components and guide them how to provide positive feedback to student’s outputs.
OBJECTIVES:
a) To discuss and explain summative assessment and identify its components;
b) To determine the appropriate Performance Task for a Learning Standard; and
c) To enumerate different assessment tools to be used per subject areas.
HIGHLIGHTS:
The session started with the singing of National Anthem and opening prayer. The
checking of attendance of the teachers present in the session were conducted via google form.
The Assistant Principal gave inspiring message and quotes to motivate us for the day and gave
some reminders and announcements as well. The speaker was introduced, and the participants
attentively listened in the discussion. The speaker discussed what is summative assessment, its
components, its difference from formative assessment, how to give proper feedback to learners,
and the different assessment tools to be used per subject area.
Open forum was conducted after the session followed by the evaluation form via google
meet.
RESULTS:
After the session, the teachers understood the components of summative assessment
which is the Written Works such as quizzes and long test and Performance Tasks. The teachers
also learned the different assessment tools to be used per subject area.
