First Proposition Speaker
•States the topic
•States several arguments with reasoning and evidence in the form of statistics

•Rebuts 1st opposition's points
•Brings up new points and argument

Proposition Rebuttal Speaker


•As the final speaker in the debate, proposition rebuttal speaker must summarise
and weigh the debate, and to demonstrate why the proposition side has
prevailed. No new evidence of arguments can be brought up. This is summary
only.

• Rebuts 1st proposition's points
• States his/her own points and argument.

• Rebuttal speaker's duty is to summarise and weigh the debate to tell why

Brainstorm for Opposing and Supporting points for the essay question on Padlet.

1. Please write the Padlet URL link on the zoom chat.


2. Brainstorm for Opposing and Supporting points for the essay question on Padlet.
3. Tell students to take out their mobile phones/iPads/computers and log in to Padlet using either
the URL or QR Code. Students would have the QR code and URL on their Student Copy.

c. When you post your comment, please use the following format as your title
i. Name, Class, – Agree/Disagree
ii. Example – Nancy Ng, Sat 5pm, - Agree
d. Post your comments for both sides of the argument – agree or disagree and give your
reasons.
4. Students are also allowed to comment on at least two other students’ posts, and state their
reasons.
5. When they are done, teachers to then segregate the class into two teams, one team is for the
motion and the other team, against the motion.
6. Teachers are given the liberty to either select the respective teams since the beginning of the
lesson, or to split them into groups only after the come up with two sides of the argument.
7. After the debate, then ask the students to pick and choose 1 point each - to which they feel
confident to present during the debate
