Recount Text 1
My friends and I have just returned from an interesting and amusing holiday at Lake
Maninjau near Padang. The lake was a crater surrounded by dense forests and rice
fields. We swam in the lake, ate fish from the lake and enjoyed the cool breezes.
From there we had a two hours trip to Bukit Tinggi, a small town which was clean,
cool and friendly Day trips around the hill took us to some spectacular countryside
with coffee mon farms. The traditional Minangkabau houses, with the roof shaped
like a buffalo's horns are everywhere.
On the following day, we went by plane to Medan and then a bus journey to Bukit
Lawang, home of the WWF Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. We stayed in the
jungle in a very charming "hotel" with no running water and electricity. We bathed in
the river and dinner under a kerosene lamp . But, it was quite a wonderful sight to
see these giant creatures that came swinging along on trees. The surrounding jungle
was alive with monkeys and gibbons.
We spent one night in the jungle after the exhausting trek over mountains and
through rivers. From Bukit Lawang we traveled to Brastagi and climbed Gunung
Sibayak. Then we went to Lake Toba enjoying the last trip .
