Lesson Plan – 2

Grade: II
Topic / Concept:Place value & Face value
Expected Learning Outcome: Students will learn the place and face value of each digit in a 3-digit number
and decomposing numbers according to the place value of the digits.

Resources Needed:
1. Flash card
2. Chart paper
3. Pencil/colour
4. Mirror
Lesson Activities:

5-10 Introductory activity/activities (Pre Lesson):

Teacher will start the class by an activity where teacher will call three students and give 1st
student a mirror and 3rd student will discuss few questions from the 2nd student about their
own identity like

 What are they called in park?


o What are they called by their parents ?
o What friends call them?

3rd student will ask question to the student holding mirror like
1. What you are finding in the mirror?
2. If you change your place your face is changing or not?

Encourage them to share their ideas and observations. While the students are giving answer to
the questions one of their friends will write them on the board. After getting the answers,
students will declare today’s learning objective and topic, “Place value and Face value”.
Main activity (During Lesson):
20 - 25 Make groups of four students randomly. Write number 0-9 on the board. Teacher will provide
minutes them flash cards .instruct them to frame any one three-digit numbers and place the numbers
inside the place value house and also present the face value. Like below-
Plenary (Post Lesson): As the students have learnt about place vale and face value, they will do
the activity.
A set of playing cards (or make your own using paper), write down the numbers 1 to 9 on
10 - 15 separate cards. These will represent the digits. Shuffle the cards and lay them face down on a
minutes table. Each player takes turns drawing three cards from the pile. The first card drawn represents
the digit’s places (units, tens, hundreds) and the second card represents the digit itself. Write the
number on a flash card and represents it on place value and face value.

Assessment for Learning/Assessment of Learning: The students will be in pair and share their answers in the

class after the presentation of different groups.

Problem Solving.
