Instructional Objectives:
● By the end of class students will demonstrate their knowledge of rhythm and
drumming technique through a group performance.
Materials:
● Drums
● Chalk
● Blackboard
● Laptop
Opening/Introduction Activity
Review
● T: Ask class to discuss with their partner, things that they did in class uo until this
point.
○ Discuss for 2 minutes
○ Have one from each group share one thing they learnt or did in the drumming
unit
● S: Share what was discussed
Echo
● T: Through echo approach, review patterns learnt in class to set up for main activity.
○ “Keep the rhythm going”
○ “Low high low”
○ “High low high”
○ “Low high low high”

Instructions
Performing Jingles
● Each group will perform their jingle for the class and present their paper to the teacher
● If each group gives their best and contributes, in the next class they will have a choice
of playing different christmas songs on boomwhackers.
Closing Activity
Jam Session
● T: Lead class through a jam session on the drums using backing track on youtube
● T: Ask for A volunteer to lead the jam session
● T: Repeat at least 3 times if time permits.
Exit Ticket
● In groups, discuss and present one thing learnt or done in todays class.
Assessment:
Formative
● T will walk around during group work to help and asses S progress
● Group discussion at beginning and end of class
● Leading jam session
Summative Assessment
Reflection:
The S had a hard time understanding the directions, so next time I will project, write, or create
a list of directions on what to do with their groups. The groups did what they needed today but
not what I expected.
