Use place value concepts to represent amounts of tens and ones and to compare three-digit
numbers.

Objectives
Objectives correspond with PA State Common Core Standards listed above (SWBAT…)

Students will be able to extend the counting sequence.


Students will be able to identify and write a three-digit number using manipulatives.

Lesson Introduction: (5-7 min)


Activate background knowledge & set purpose

Using the number expender students will get in partners or groups of three and will be given a number to write
using dry easer maker as a simple review before going into the lesson.

Lesson Plans are conducive to student achievement and focus on PA State CC standards and objectives

While using the smartboard the teacher will pull up the workbook page that the students will be doing (pages
256-257). The teacher with the students on the blue rug will go over what is needed to be done. As a whole
class the teacher will ask students what the answers are and showing how they will work on the pages they need
to. Once that is done the students will get broken up into partners or two groups to finish the pages on their own
while the teacher is walking around seeing if anyone needs help and making sure that the students are doing
what they need to be.

Closing& Assessment: (5-7 min)


Restate purpose & assess comprehension; met objectives?

Once everyone is finished and if there is enough time left bring the students back to the blue rug and call on
students to say an answer and put it up on the smartboard to review and answer any questions that there might
be.
