discrimination this group has lived by acknowledging the words we use, the attitude we have
towards the daily life, showing our culture is based in their culture, the Afro-colombian culture.

Colombia. Due to this cultural event, have there been any noticeable shifts in how race is discussed or

- This could be categorized as a very long and non-ending debate, but through the years the culture
has shifted throughout the years. Specially with technological globalization. This festival creates a
sense of acknowledgement to the Afro-Colombian culture. This festival embraces the most
alienated regions from our country by celebrating the beauty behind this rich culture.

5. In what ways do The Petronio festival in Colombia and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's idea of 'The Single
Story' intersect or diverge in their impacts on challenging stereotypes and promoting a more nuanced
understanding of cultural identity and race? Please explain.
- The two stories intercept thanks to the ideology of the challenges behind stereotypes and the
promotion of nuanced understandings of culture and identity. On the other hand, we have the
fact that the three pieces of work diverge in the way they promote their common idea,
Chimamanda, uses a first-hand story to portray this main idea. Meanwhile, the Petronio festival
uses art to portray and showcase the idea of racism and stereotypes.
