Paste Backfill Supervisor

The Company

Globe 24-7 in partnership with their client in Nevada, United States is in search of a Paste Backfill
Supervisor.

Position Overview

The role of Paste Backfill Supervisor entails overseeing the progression and development of the paste
backfill initiative, ensuring operational preparedness, commissioning, and the seamless transition to
supervising all facets of underground mine paste backfill placement. This includes supervising,
communicating, and coordinating activities with the surface paste backfill plant. Adherence to local
governmental regulations, statutory mandates, and strict compliance with company safety, health, and
environmental standards and protocols is imperative in all work practices.

The Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Uphold a personal dedication to safety by maintaining a tidy work area and fostering regular
communication to prevent unsafe work practices.
• Oversee, mentor, and train the workforce to maintain consistent operations within the facilities
across different shifts, aiming for top-tier performance levels. Clearly define and communicate
tasks requiring follow-up to address unsafe work conditions, equipment repairs, or any issues
that might limit production capacity.
• Conduct thorough inspections of work areas and ensure that operator checks align with
company safety and environmental standards, as well as regulatory requirements.
• Offer technical and practical insights into design, engineering, and plant construction activities.
• Supervise the construction of the underground distribution system.
• Drive operational readiness for the Project by developing paste backfill standards and
procedures, supporting recruitment efforts for both surface and underground teams, and
overseeing associated training.
• Manage scheduling for underground mobile equipment and surface paste activities.
• Provide tactical leadership and supervision for the surface and underground paste backfill
teams.
• Supervise surface paste plant operators in collaboration with Process Supervisors,
communicating engineering-specified paste requirements.
• Establish and uphold paste backfill standards and procedures across the entire backfill team.
• Contribute to mine production planning and liaise with technical services to identify paste
backfill constraints and opportunities.

 • Review the surface paste and underground distribution system to ensure alignment with the
backfill plan and requirements.
• Monitor Paste Plant consumables to ensure adequate supplies of cement and binder for
meeting the backfill plan.
• Oversee quality assurance/quality control of the backfill process (plant and distribution) to
ensure adherence to design specifications, including bulkhead, plug, and all elements necessary
for proper backfill.
• Lead and participate in continuous improvement and optimization projects for Paste backfill.
• Compile daily, weekly, and monthly performance statistics and cost reports.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations to maintain operational licenses.
• Facilitate the training and development of the Paste backfill team.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration between Engineering, technical services,
underground operations, and process operations.

Qualifications & Experience

• At least three (3) years of prior experience in a supervisory capacity.
• Proficient knowledge and operational experience encompassing grinding, flotation, thickening,
and filtering.
• Exhibits a sincere passion for delivering exceptional leadership, coaching, and mentoring to
teams.
• Enthusiastic about innovative concepts capable of transforming the business.

Skills & Abilities

• Fundamental understanding of health and safety protocols, mining practices, maintenance
principles, and familiarity with accounting codes for budgeting purposes.
• Comprehensive knowledge of all stages of copper processing relevant to associated equipment.
• Proficiency in crafting organizational policies and procedures based on experience and
expertise.
• Capable of swiftly recognizing and rectifying operational issues.
• Proficient communication with various support groups.
• Skilled in independent work as well as a valuable contributor within the management team.
• Refined communication skills enabling interaction across all levels within the company.
• Demonstrated capability in performing the essential functions of the position.
