YOUTH AMBASSADORS

with Peru

The Youth Ambassadors Program aims to develop a network of young adults from across
countries in the Americas who have a strong sense of civic responsibility, a commitment to their
communities, an awareness of current and global issues, and strong interpersonal leadership skills.
The program aims to promote mutual understanding, respect, and collaboration between people
in the United States and other countries of the Western Hemisphere. The Youth Ambassadors
Program with Peru is open to teenagers ages 15-17 and adult educators (mentors).

The program provides full scholarships for 12 youth


participants and 2 adult mentors from Peru to take
part in a 10-month leadership development program
focused on civic engagement and multiculturalism.
The program commences with a three-week exchange
in the United States. Youth participants are expected
to implement a service project in their home
community after the exchange, with the support of
their adult educators.

Youth Ambassadors is a program of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau


of Educational and Cultural Affairs, with funding provided by the U.S.
Government and is administered by World Learning.
ELIGIBILITY PROGRAM
REQUIREMENTS DETAILS
Exchange dates: October 12 - 26, 2024. Program
All Youth Participants must: formats are subject to change in consultation
z Be a citizen and resident of Peru with the U.S. Department of State.
z Be 15-17 at the start of the U.S. exchange
in October 2024
z Be enrolled in public school, and a current
student in the 4th year of high school
z Demonstrate leadership potential and
community involvement
z Have limited U.S. and other international
travel
z Have parental/legal guardian permission
guardians to participate in U.S. travel or
online programming
z Have a high-intermediate level of spoken
and written English

All Adult Educator applicants must:


z Be a citizen and resident of Peru
z Actively work with youth in a high school
or community setting
z Be willing and able to meet periodically
with youth participants after the exchange
to support and monitor civic
engagement projects
z Have an advanced level of spoken and
written English
