ACTIVITY – 1
Contribution to any National Level Initiative
of the Government of India – Digital Payment
Activity Details:
As part of the India Council for technical education (AICTE) activity program, the students of
Mechanical Engineering visited Mandya District to conduct an awareness program under the
Digital India initiative of the central government to facilitate 100% digitization of money.
Digitization of money refers to the increasing trend of using digital technology to make
financial transactions, rather than traditional physical forms of money such as cash or checks.
It involves the use of electronic payment methods, such as credit and debit cards, online
banking, mobile payments, and cryptocurrencies. One of the major advantages of the
digitization of money is convenience. With digital payment methods, transactions can be
conducted quickly and easily, without the need for physical cash. Digital payments can be made
from anywhere and at any time, making it easier for people to conduct transactions across
borders. Another advantage of the digitization of money is increased security. Digital
transactions are often more secure than physical transactions because they can be tracked and
monitored. Digital payments can also be protected by encryption and other security measures,
which can help prevent fraud and identity theft.
However, there are also some potential drawbacks to the digitization of money. For example,
some people may have concerns about the security of their personal and financial information

when conducting transactions online. In addition, there may be disparities in access to digital
payment methods, particularly in less developed countries where access to digital infrastructure
may be limited.
Despite these concerns, the trend toward digitization of money is likely to continue, as
technology continues to evolve and consumers demand more convenient and secure ways to
conduct financial transactions.
We are pleased to report that we, as a group, successfully facilitated the 100% digitization of
money in Mandya District. Digitization efforts are often focused on improving infrastructure
and services for residents. We decided to take the initiative to promote digital transactions and
went shop to shop, encouraging merchants to adopt digital payment methods. To begin with,
we surveyed the village and identified the key areas where the adoption of digital payments
would be most beneficial. We then approached the merchants in these areas and explained to
them the benefits of adopting digital payments. Initially, some of the merchants were skeptical,
as they were unfamiliar with the technology and were used to traditional cashbased transactions.
2
AICTE ACTIVITY 2020-24
To address these concerns, we organized a series of workshops to train the merchants on the
various digital payment methods available, such as UPI, digital wallets, and debit/credit card
payments. The workshops were conducted in a simple and easy-to-understand manner, using
local language and examples. The merchants were also given hands-on training on how to use
digital payment platforms.
Through our efforts, we were able to facilitate the adoption of digital payments in all the shops
in Basthipura village. The merchants were pleased with the results, as digital payments proved
to be safer, more convenient, and more efficient than cash transactions. The customers also
benefited from this initiative, as they no longer had to carry cash and could make payments using
their mobile phones or cards. In conclusion, the successful digitization of money in Basthipura
village is a significant milestone in promoting digital transactions in rural areas. This initiative
has not only made transactions safer and more efficient but has also helped to promote financial
inclusion by enabling the unbanked population to participate in the digital economy. Going
forward, we hope to replicate this success in other villages and promote the use of digital
payments across the country.

Water, Sanitation, And Hygiene (WASH) directly impact human health and have far
reaching consequences when ignored. India is one of the fastest developing economies, but
when it comes to WASH indicators, it continues to lag. With a population of over 1.2 billion,
there is a mounting and urgent need to address sanitation.
It is one of the key components of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), launched with the
objective of bringing improvement in cleanliness, hygiene and the general quality of life in
rural areas. This document presents a basic, quick introduction to Solid Liquid Waste
Management (SLWM) in rural areas. The document is geared, particularly for district
administrators to help focus on SLWM along with Open Defecation Free (ODF) activities.

Solid Waste
In rural areas, examples of solid waste include wastes from kitchens, gardens, cattle
sheds, agriculture, and materials such as metal, paper, plastic, cloth, and so on. They are
organic and inorganic materials with no remaining economic value to the owner produced by
homes, commercial and industrial establishments.
Most household waste in rural areas is organic, with little inorganic material, and is
non-toxic. Because of its environment-friendliness, composting is a highly suitable method of
waste management in rural areas.
Solid waste from the water treatment plant in Mysuru city is being reused in
preparation of plant nurseries. Plants from this nursery are distributed at no cost to nearby
towns and villages. Through these efforts, the surroundings of Doora Village have turned into
green belt area.
It also introduced a low cost, an easy to install efficient sewerage system in many
villages and towns of Punjab. Through the system, the dirty sewage water of a village or town
is collected in one or more ponds. The collected municipal water, which is polluted but not
toxic is treated by simple methods of screening, filtration, sedimentation, rotation, etc. and
made environmentally acceptable and reusable for different purposes. A low-cost water
treatment plant has been constructed at Doora town in Mysuru district. In Doora Village with
the help of funding from Non – Resident Indians installed a sewerage system. The treated
water supplied via underground pipelines is used for crop irrigation. This has given relief to
farmers by reducing the cost of agriculture production and enhancing crop yield besides
paving the way for the adoption of organic farming. These efforts have turned the dirty ponds
in the village into beautiful lakes.
Awareness Campaigns –
There have been initiatives undertaken to generate awareness amongst people like
organizing an Awareness March against toxic effluents polluting natural water resources in

2009, enlightening people on the fatal effects of toxic waters, leading a people’s movement
against water polluting industrial units of central Karnataka, use of mass and social media to
create public awareness, etc.

Tourism promotion in India involves a multifaceted approach to showcase the country's rich
cultural heritage, natural beauty, and diverse experiences. The "Incredible India" marketing
campaign, for example, emphasizes India's vibrant traditions, stunning landscapes, and unique
attractions to audiences worldwide, drawing attention to its varied offerings. Cultural festivals
and events across the country, such as Diwali, Holi, and Durga Puja, provide visitors with
immersive experiences and a chance to explore India's deep-rooted traditions, music, dance,
and cuisine. Infrastructure development is a crucial aspect of tourism promotion, as it
enhances accessibility and the overall visitor experience through improved transportation
networks, quality accommodations, and modern tourist facilities.
India's focus on ecotourism and sustainable tourism practices ensures that its natural resources
are preserved while offering visitors unique experiences such as wildlife safaris, trekking, and
stays at eco-friendly resorts. Additionally, the country's efforts to conserve and promote
heritage sites—including historical monuments, temples, and archaeological locations—serve
to attract history enthusiasts and cultural explorers. Collaboration with the private sector and
local communities also plays a role in creating authentic and engaging tourism experiences.
Furthermore, the government has implemented initiatives such as visa reforms and online
services to ease travel logistics for international visitors. Through a holistic approach that
combines marketing, infrastructure improvement, cultural preservation, and policy support,
India aims to establish itself as a premier travel destination, offering memorable experiences
to visitors from around the world.

Government schools often face challenges related to infrastructure, such as lack of proper
buildings, classrooms, furniture, and sanitation facilities. Despite these challenges, they strive
to create conducive learning environments. Many government schools also lack access to
modern teaching aids and technologies, which can impact the quality of education. Government
schools employ qualified teachers who are responsible for delivering education across various
subjects.
The government periodically conducts training programs for teachers to enhance their skills
and teaching methodologies. Additionally, initiatives like the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA)
aim to improve the quality of education in government schools, focusing on enrollment,
retention, and quality of education. Government schools cater to a significant portion of India's
student population, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. They serve as pillars of education
for communities, providing access to education for children who might not otherwise have the
opportunity. The impact of government schools extends beyond academics, as they often play
a role in fostering social cohesion and community development.
11
AICTE ACTIVITY 2020-24
Overall, government schools are essential in the nation's educational landscape, striving to
provide quality education to all segments of society. Despite challenges, they serve as important
institutions for learning and community development, aiming to empower students and
contribute to the nation's progress.
We thought them about the forms of energy and few basic mathematical problems. Had a great
interaction among the students.

ACTIVITY – 5
Crafting an actionable business proposal for boosting rural incomes entails leveraging existing
government school infrastructure and resources to uplift village economies. In rural areas,
where economic opportunities are often limited, empowering villagers to increase their income
is vital for sustainable development. This proposal suggests repurposing underutilized spaces
within government schools for income-generating activities, such as vocational training centers
or community marketplaces. By integrating income-generating skills training into the
curriculum and expanding existing government programs like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) to
include vocational modules, villagers can be equipped with marketable skills while enhancing
their earning potential. Establishing vocational training centers within government school
premises and transforming vacant spaces into vibrant marketplaces can generate income and
foster community engagement. Technology integration and specialized teacher training
programs are essential components to ensure the sustainability and quality of the proposed
initiatives. Collaborative partnerships with local government bodies, NGOs, and private
enterprises, along with community participation and robust monitoring mechanisms, are crucial
for successful implementation. The expected outcomes include increased village incomes,
sustainable development, and enhanced community resilience. This holistic approach integrates
education, skill development, and entrepreneurship to create lasting positive change in rural
communities.
14
AICTE ACTIVITY 2020-24
Moreover, the proposal advocates for the transformation of vacant areas within government
school premises into vibrant community marketplaces. These marketplaces would serve as
platforms for villagers to showcase and sell their products, ranging from agricultural
produce to handmade crafts. By facilitating direct access to consumers and eliminating
intermediaries, villagers can maximize their profits and contribute to the local economy. In
tandem with these initiatives, integrating vocational education modules into the existing
school curriculum is paramount. Leveraging programs like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA),
we can embed practical skills training alongside traditional academic subjects. This
comprehensive approach ensures that students are equipped with both theoretical knowledge
and practical abilities, enhancing their employability and income-earning potential upon
graduation. To support the of these initiatives, investments in technology and teacher
training are essential. Modern teaching aids and digital platforms can enhance the delivery
of vocational education, while specialized training programs for teachers enable them to
effectively impart practical skills to students. Additionally, fostering collaborative
partnerships with local stakeholders, including government bodies, NGOs, and private
enterprises, is crucial for mobilizing resources and expertise. Community participation lies
at the heart of this proposal, with villagers actively engaged in decision-making processes
and program implementation. By empowering residents to take ownership of their economic
development, we foster a sense of agency and pride within the community. Robust
monitoring and evaluation mechanisms ensure accountability and enable adjustments to be
made based on feedback and outcomes. Ultimately, the anticipated outcomes of the business
proposal extend beyond mere economic gains. By enhancing village incomes, we contribute
to broader objectives of sustainable development, poverty alleviation, and social cohesion.
Through education, skill development, and we empower rural communities to chart their
own path towards prosperity and resilience. Collaborative partnerships with local
government bodies, NGOs, and private enterprises, along with community participation and
robust monitoring mechanisms, are crucial for successful implementation Collaborative
