WHILE-SPEAKING

- Describe a memorable moment in your life.

● when this situation took place

● what happened
● how you reacted
● explain why this moment is memorable to you.

I’ll tell you an extremely cringeworthy experience that I underwent a couple of weeks ago.

I was routinely on my own in a café in the vicinity to finish my homework while craving a
refreshing matcha bubble tea. I must have been engrossed in what I was reading, and hours later
I decided to call it a day and had an urge to leave.
What I didn't figure out was that I had been sitting with my legs crossed, and one of my legs had
possibly gone numb. As I started to stand up and take a first step forward, I steadily became
aware that my left leg was 'dead'. In the meantime, I had assumed that I could grasp the table
nearby, but I was mistaken. The table tipped over and gravity viciously pulled me sideways, I
tumbled down right in the café!

I still remember being on my knees in the middle of the café, facing the staff and customers
around me. I felt overly embarrassed and envisaged giggles on other customers’ faces. Much to
my surprise, nobody did so and they were so kind-hearted and courteous. They asked me
worriedly and sincerely tried to help me up!

At the end of the day I’ve learned to be more careful. Having said that, never will I forget how
mortified I was whenever I reflect on that moment.

- Describe a person who you want to travel with.

You should say:
● who the person is
● where you want to travel to
● when you will travel with this person
● and explain why you want to travel with this person.

Well, there are many people I’d love to travel with, but I suppose the person I want to
accompany me most is my best friend, who is an unrivaled travel mate no matter where I go.

Frankly speaking, we have many options for our destinations like Korea or Japan, depending on
our budget and time availability. Maybe after I graduate from university, she will accompany me
on a trip abroad.
I want to travel with her mainly because she is knowledgeable about history and culture, and
she’s also proficient in languages. Therefore, I believe I would be laid-back and trouble-free
going around with her.

Besides, my bestie is totally and utterly sociable and easy-going. She seemingly can get along
well with all people, especially new friends.

In summary, those are the reasons why she is the one I want to travel with.

- Describe a website that you often use. You should say:

● what type of website it is
● how you found out about it
● what it allows you to do
● and why you find it useful.

I’m going to talk about Facebook, which is arguably the most popular social networking
website. It's a free platform that enables registered users to communicate and engage with
society.
I knew it for the first time when one of my friends sent me a link inviting me to register. I signed
up and I've been using it ever since.

Facebook is incredibly useful because of several reasons. Firstly, Facebook is an opportunity to

keep track of emerging trends and target audience. With just a few keystrokes, I can have access
to thousands of relevant demographic information for my advertising campaigns. Since my team
was seeking exposure to publicize an upcoming event for our English Club, Facebook was a key
component for us to inform and invite a sheer number of participants. Secondly, regarding my
study, I can search for intellectuals sharing informative how-to tips on their personal page.
Besides, overarching education matters can be passed on from the school’s official fanpage to
students, which is perhaps more reliable compared to word-of-mouth.
In conclusion, I find Facebook most pragmatic in organizing my life and storing my personal
status updates. Social networking websites have transformed the ways I handle information and
have become an indispensable component of my life.
